Mauer Der Toten is finally here and it brings with it a new Wonder Weapon: The CRBR-S. It's certainly a great bit of kit, but is it the best Wonder Weapon out there? Here's everything you need to know about it, including how to get your hands on one.
LATEST - Does Mauer Der Toten & The CRBR-S Stack Up?
Mauer Der Toten is, for lack of a better word, just alright. It doesn't blow us away, but it isn't the worst Zombies map by a longshot. Klaus has been described as one of "the most popular things [Treyarch] has ever done" by developers, but that just isn't true. He is amusing, sure, but you wouldn't put him up there against the likes of anything remotely popular. Tranzit is a divisive map, but T.E.D.D. is hands-down a more popular feature. Perhaps Klaus will grow on us, but it seems unlikely.
In addition to this, the CRBR-S itself is a little lacklustre. When you pick up a Wonder Weapon in Zombies, you want it to be unique. Both the Ray-Gun and the Wunderwaffe are fantastic examples of this. Die Maschine's D.I.E. Machine is also a great example. The CRBR-S falls into the same category as the R.A.I. K-84... It's just like a juiced-up regular weapon.
The CRBR-S does have a couple of interesting Variant Modes, but they don't feel as "Wonderful" as they should. You just don't get the same feeling using one as you do a Ray-Gun. Perhaps that's impossible, anyway.
The Base Variant Mode Is The Best
The CRBR-S, which can be found on Mauer Der Toten, has a total of four Variant Modes. There's a Handgun Variant Mode, which is the base version of the Wonder Weapon, a Particle Beam Assault Rifle Variant Mode, a Shotgun Variant Mode, and a Rocket Launcher Variant Mode.
As you can see below, in the Tweet from MrDalekJD, they are all colour-coded and vary in appearance substantially.
Of course, picking up a Variant Mode can be useful, and they're a lot of fun, but it's hard to confidently say that they are better than the Base Variant Mode. The basic CRBR-S shoots two projectiles at once, has substantially more ammo when Pack-A-Punched, and appears to have a higher damage output.
You also have better mobility due to the fact that it is a Handgun weapon. It's hard to argue with all of that.
How To Get & Upgrade The New Wonder Weapon
It might look like a strange toy, but the CRBR-S is a Wonder Weapon worth talking about. Its default firing mode is good, but there's actually four variants of the new Mauer Der Toten Wonder Weapon at your disposal and we have new information on how you can get your hands on it.
When you have the CRBR-S, all you need to do is kill enemies with it. Each enemy you kill will have a chance of dropping one of the three additional Weapon Attachments for the Wonder Weapon. These aren't necessarily going to be better, though. They just change the way it works! You might find the base CRBR-S does exactly what you need it too and that's okay!
We don't think using a Pack-A-Punched Wonder Weapon improves the drop rate, but it does make killing things easier so it might be worth doing.
If you need help getting the new Wonder Weapon, though, here's how you can get your hands on it:
- Found in the Mystery Box
- This is a "luck of the draw" method that can cost a lot of points.
- Awarded after completing the relevant steps in the Main Quest
- Unlock Klaus, find Safe Combination numbers, unlock Hotel Room 305 Secret Door.
- Proving yourself at the Trails machine
- Earning a Legendary Reward at the Trails Machine should grant you "A" Wonder Weapon. The CRBR-S isn't guaranteed.
First Look At Wonder Weapon In Trailer
Treyarch has released their first Gameplay Trailer for Mauer Der Toten and now we've got a great look at the new map and, more importantly, the new Wonder Weapon. It looks like it shoots "energy tendrils" that track enemies; However, the Gameplay Trailer is only a minute long so it's hard to get a proper look at all of this.
Still, we have an official still which gives us a detailed look at the Wonder Weapon's design:
We know that it is called the CRBR-S Wonder Weapon and it comes with four weapon variants in total.

Wonder Weapon Blueprint Teasers
In the build-up to Mauer Der Toten, Treyarch teased a lot. One of those was a blueprint for the new Wonder Weapon, which we now know as the CRBR-S. Check out what's been shown so far below:
There's also a new craftable Tactical Equipment coming to Zombies with Mauer Der Toten and Season 4 Reloaded.
