Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the most highly anticipated games of all time, despite not being officially announced by Rockstar.

There has been many rumours and a lot of speculation surrounding the game, but so far the game remains unannounced and hasn't been officially acknowledged by Rockstar.

But will it launch on the 16-year-old console?

Will GTA 6 Be On Xbox 360?

Grand Theft Auto V first launched on Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 back in 2013 and became an immediate smash-hit.

The game generated over $1 billion in revenue in just three days and has since gone on to sell over 135 million copies, making it the second best selling game of all time.

GTA V was later ported to Xbox One, PS4, and PC, there are also plans of releasing the game on the next-generation of consoles, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

With the previous entry selling so well on the Xbox 360, it does beg the question as to whether the game will make an appearance on the system.

CLASSIC: GTA V first launched on Xbox 360/PS3 in 2013.

But, it is extremely unlikely to do so, it also probably won't be released on the Xbox One or PS4.

The Xbox 360 was launched in 2005, so nearly 16 years ago right now.

GTA 6 is rumoured to launch in late 2023, which would make the Xbox 360 18 years old at that time, and likely would be categorised as a retro console.

With GTA 6 being Rockstar's first true go at releasing a game on next-gen hardware, they likely won't want to "dumb down" the game for last-gen hardware, nevermind hardware that is nearly two decades old by that point.

But if you have yet to upgrade from the Xbox 360 or PS3, you can still enjoy GTA V on those consoles, even the online mode.

The online mode hasn't been updated in quite some time, so don't expect to play the Cayo Perico Heists, but it is still playable and there are still active players on it.

As of right now, GTA 6 is unannounced, but the rumoured release date is in late 2023, based on Take-Two's marketing budget for 2023/2024
