Uncharted is an iconic PlayStation franchise that has defined the platform. It's delivered countless hits for Sony for over a decade, no surprise given Naughty Dog are the studio behind it
The latest main entry in the series, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, was released back in 2016, ending the Nathan Drake story arc.
Since then, fans have wondered whether another Uncharted game would ever be released, and we're still no clearer.
Here is everything you need to know.
Latest - Could Uncharted 5 be at the Sony State of Play?
Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that Uncharted 5 - or anything related to the Uncharted franchise - is shown during the upcoming State of Play event.
Naughty Dog is likely working on another project other than The Last of Us 2: Factions but it's looking unlikely that it's anything related to Uncharted.
Uncharted 5 Is Reportedly In Development
It has been reported that Uncharted 5 is officially in development, with Naughty Dog supervising the project.
The report claims that SIE Bend Studio, the studio behind the Syphon Filter series, as well as Days Gone, will be handling development for the game.
It was also said that some members of the studio are also working on The Last Of Us multiplayer game.
Since the report is new, it likely means that Uncharted 5 is still a long way off being released, but at least fans of the series know that the next entry will show up eventually.
The Job Listing
The job listing is looking for a cinematic and in-game animator to work on one of PlayStation’s most “well-known and well-loved franchises”.
With that phrase included in the description, it would be hard to ignore the 4 year absence of the Uncharted series.
The position is at Sony’s latest studio, the Malaysian first-party studio, which has been created to assist Sony’s other studios such as Naughty Dog.

This apparent connection to Naughty Dog helps narrow down our suspicions on an Uncharted 5 being in the works.
SIE San Diego Studio Secret Title
The studio has been working on a ‘secretive title’ for a while now.
As well as this, they have been picking up ex-Naughty Dog employees, prominent members of the teams behind Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us.
With the job listing also mentioning “the next chapter of cinematic storytelling”, the reference to chapters also seems to point towards Uncharted.
PS4 and PS5 release
We also can’t see any reason that the game wouldn’t release for both the PS4 and PS5.

The developers in question won't want to leave any gamers behind!
However, prepare yourself for lower performance on the PS4 game, as it will have the PS5 hardware in mind.
Other possibilities
However, with no Sony confirmation, there is every possibility this one of the other Sony IPs receiving a reboot.
Any other game from Horizon Zero Dawn to God of War could be in the same job listing description.
That being said, it’s important that you don’t take this news as writ just yet.
When we get confirmation, we’ll make sure you are the first to know about it!
