The Sims 4 is a hugely popular game, but a lot of its biggest fans rely on mods to change how the game works and add new avenues for fun. They're popular to the point that players scramble to new ones whenever an expansion pack is released. The question remains, will The Sims 5 have mods once it inevitably releases?

Of course, we need to talk about the obvious thing first - The Sims 5 hasn't been officially announced yet. EA has spoken about 'the future of The Sims' in a way that suggests it's in the works, but we haven't seen or heard anything official.
That being said, we're sure it'll arrive eventually, we just don't know when, so we're wondering what will be included once it does.
Will The Sims 5 Have Mods?
While they'll never come from EA or Maxis directly, it's pretty much a certainty that mods will feature in The Sims 5 in some way.
They'll likely not be widely available until a few weeks or months after the games release, but they'll come eventually, and will likely be activated in the same way.
What will be interesting is whether the old mods will be transferable quickly, letting Sims 5 players bring back their favourite mods as soon as possible.
There's a group of really popular mods, which let you change relationships and how careers play out, so it'd be great for them to be available early. That being said, any new features may make some of the popular mods obsolete.
Another interesting consideration is that some entirely new mods ideas could come to the fore, influenced by any new features The Sims 5 introduces.
Graphical changes and more depth to the lives of your sims could completely change the mods landscape, and it'll be interesting to see.
