Destiny 2: Lightfall is finally here and in typical Bungie fashion, they've already begun teasing and revealing the new expansion's first raid.
After many rumors revolving around one certain Destiny 2 villain possibly making their first true debut, Guardians all around the globe can finally feel vindicated as the Root of Nightmares may confirm it.
The Root of Nightmares REVEALED
First revealed via a Tweet from Bungie themselves via the Destiny 2 Twitter, an official description for the Root of Nightmares reads, "Ferried from an unknown time and place, a haunting presence has been detected. We must now confront the ancient threat growing at our doorstep."
In the tweet, players can see a Fireteam of six Guardians standing inside said Pyramid, as the structure is overrun with unknown flora, a flora that was initially shown off in the recently released Lightfall launch trailer.
The Root of Nightmares release date
The Root of Nightmares will be the first raid for the recent Destiny 2: Lightfall expansion. This raid will see Guardians traverse through The Witness' Pyramid ship. There will be plenty of enemies there, and a potential encounter with one of the more mysterious characters in the game, Nezarec.
Mainly working from the shadows, showing their face here and there, Nezarec is thought to be the one behind the Pyramid's mysterious flora and shadow.
The Root of Nightmares is set to launch Friday, March 10, 2023. Players will be able to party up and go raiding at 12:00 pm EST / 5:00 pm GMT.
