The 2018 Capcom Cup finals have finally been announced, and they’re making a big change in location.

While previous finals took residence in Anaheim, California, this year’s competition is throwing down in Las Vegas - in the Esports Arena, specifically. Evo attendees will note the closeness of the venue to the Mandalay Bay, which adjoins the Luxor through a closed walkway.

This change likewise marks a major shift from the Finals’ previous home at PlayStation Experience. No news around PSX has been forthcoming, either, leading to mass speculation that the event may not even occur this year.

The Capcom Cup Finals and Last-Chance Qualifier are set to take place on December 14-16, giving any competitors not in the Top 26 of the CPT rankings a shot at taking the last spot before the Finals. Of those qualified, only eight can make it to Sunday’s big stage - and only one of those will be crowned the champion.

While RISE | MenaRD currently sits as the returning champ, there are 25 other competitors training to take his crown. Of those, FUDOH | Fujimura sits at first place, while Mousesports | Problem X has climbed all the way to second, following his major victory at Evo 2018. Other fighters who have earned a spot include RISE | Caba, an up-and-comer to the Tour who knocked heads during both the 2017 and 2018 seasons. As usual, Daigo ‘ The Beast’ Umehara is in the running, alongside names like  CYG BST | Fuudo, Echo Fox | Tokido, and the 2017 Capcom Cup champion, GHOST | NuckleDu.

With SoCal Regionals underway as one of the last Premier events in the United States, the Capcom Cup finals are growing closer and closer. Canada Cup approaches in October, while the Red Bull North American Regional Finals marks the final event in the Tour. Three months remain between now and the Finals - who’s to say who will come out on top?
