Football Manager fans are counting down the days as Sports Interactive has teased the first look at Football Manager 2026's match day experience on their official X account. Following the postponement of Football Manager 25, excitement for this release has been growing for months, with developers promising a "generational overhaul" of the popular football management simulation.
FM 26 Brings Huge Improvements
FM 26 is expected to be the first game in the series to use the Unity engine, representing the most significant technological advancement since the 3D Match engine was introduced in January 2009. This update is expected to result in smoother gaming, more realistic animations, and a more immersive matchday atmosphere. Players can also expect improved stadium details and speculation about dynamic stadium upgrades that evolve over time.
One of the most notable additions will be women's football, allowing managers to manage women's teams, scout fresh players, and compete in a fully developed women's database. While license details are still unknown, fans are hoping for the addition of major tournaments alongside existing men's competitions.
The game will also feature a revamped UI that will replace the traditional inbox with the mobile-inspired "portal" system that delivers key information via tiles and cards. Tactical systems are also being overhauled, and more player roles, deeper customization, and advanced match-day decision-making tools are being added.
With Football Manager 26 expected to launch in fall 2025 and early access expected before the launch, fans are excited to see if this ambitious new chapter will meet their high expectations after last year's disappointment.
