It's been a couple of weeks since EA Play Live 2021 now, and The Sims 5 didn't make the appearance we hoped it would.
The leaked Dead Space remake was the big non-sporting surprise (sort of) of the event, and fans have been left waiting for news on the future of The Sims.
Yes, Cottage Living, the new Sims 4 expansion, has just released, but it's been seven years since that base game released. It has to be time for something brand new soon.
Thinking about that and putting EA Play Live 2021 behind us, we're wondering when The Sims 5 might be revealed instead.
When Could The Sims 5 Be Revealed
The next big event in the gaming calendar is Gamescom 2021, which begins on August 25, and The Sims 5 could, in theory, be revealed there.
Geoff Keighley is holding his annual Opening Night Live event, complete with reveals and updates, so who knows what we'll see.
We'd be surprised if The Sims 5 made an appearance here, however. Just a month after EA Play Live seems too soon for EA to reveal a new game in one of their tentpole series.
The next big event is another Geoff Keighley gig - The Game Awards, which takes place in December. The TGAs are always an eclectic show, full of games from all genres, so it's hard to predict what'll make an appearance.
Again, though, we think that may be too soon once more.
In all honesty, we expect we'll have to wait another year before we see The Sims 5 revealed now.
EA Play Live 2022 is an event to bookmark in your diaries (not that we know the date yet) as when The Sims 5 is most likely to be revealed.
It'll likely be time to hear more on the future of Star Wars games, as well as getting looks at the future of Dragon Age/Mass Effect, which have been teased in recent years.
Add The Sims 5 to that group, and it could be a huge show. Whether E3 is back in person and EA Play Live is part of it, it's hard to say, but that would be exciting.
Of course, EA and Maxis could always spring an announcement on us out of nowhere, revealing The Sims 5 on a random Tuesday in February or something, but that sounds very un-EA.
Their reveals tend to be pretty regimented, but hopefully we get some concrete news sooner rather than later.
