The ninth generation of Pokemon is on its way and fans are preparing to journey across the Paldea region and collect some of the many creatures that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have to offer.
As is the case with every new generation, a brand new battle mechanic has been added to the mix. For generation nine, this comes in the form of the "Terastal Phenomenon", a weird form of energy that lets players "Terastallize" their Pokemon, making them shine like diamonds.
Here is everything you need to know about Terastallizing in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Terastallize Your Pokemon to Give Them New Types
The Terastal Phenomenon is only found in the Paldea region and when used, gives pokemon a gem-like coating. Terastallized Pokemon have a large Tera jewel appear over their head like a crown, giving them a power boost.
The professors of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Sada and Turo will be researching this phenomenon and are trying to solve the mysteries around it.
This ability, when activated, gives the pokemon a new typing according to it's Tera type, a new feature added in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, while most pokemon will have a Tera type that matches their regular type, it is possible to see Pokemon with different type combos as well.
In these instances, the Pokemon will now change its type while Terastallized, becoming its Tera type and giving any moves it has with that type a same type attack bonus, while also changing their weaknesses. This could make for some powerful strategies when travelling the Paldea region, essentially giving players limited access to three types for each of their Pokemon to maximise their chances of winning in battle.
