We may finally be on the road to a new Silent Hill game after the announcement that Konami and 'The Medium' developer Bloober Team have entered a strategic partnership.
It's been rumoured for some time that Bloober would be working on the next Silent Hill game as Konami choose to deal out their intellectual properties to outside studios. This partnership may be the biggest sign that the project is going ahead.
Konami And Bloober Strategic Partnership
The official announcement comes from Bloober Team but does also include a quote from Hideki Hayakawa, the President of Konami Digital Entertainment;
'We have been providing unique entertainment content and ways to enjoy it through the use of information technology. In the digital entertainment industry, significant changes in the business environment are expected in the future. We look forward to combining Bloober Team’s and our respective characteristics and strengths to create high-quality contents'
Konami certainly seem excited by the partnership and we're sure Bloober were not picked at random. Their work on 'The Medium' and 'Blair Witch' have placed them at the forefront of the Horror genre in video games.
On behalf of Bloober Team, their President, Piotr Babieno had this to say;
'It is a historic day for me and the culmination of several years of our work. The fact that such a renowned company as KONAMI has decided to strategically cooperate with the Bloober Team means that we also joined the world leaders in gaming and became an equal partner for the leading players in this market.'
It's clear that this is a big step for Bloober Team and one we're sure they can handle given their work with well know IP's and original ideas in the past.
A new Silent Hill title is widely sought after and not just by hardcore fans of the franchise. Let's see what this strategic partnership brings us.
