Does Monster Hunter Rise have G Rank?

Monster Hunter Rise is a good entry point to the series for new players to jump into, but veterans might be wondering if features like G Rank are returning.

What G Rank Is

G Rank is a long-term feature of Monster Hunter that stands for 'Great Rank' and is a higher difficulty for hunts than any other.

Often, they're added to Monster Hunter games after release, possibly as part of expansions or Ultimate editions.

They're the perfect hunts for seasoned players to test their skills in, taking on even more powerful versions of existing monsters.

In recent titles, G Rank has instead been called Master Rank. It's somewhat the same, with the abilities of the monsters you're hunting and fighting being significantly higher.

Is G Rank in Monster Hunter Rise?

Much like Monster Hunter World a few years ago, Monster Hunter Rise will not have the G Rank feature at launch.

It didn't come to World at a later date, so probably won't come to Rise, but Capcom has commented on the possibility.

In an interview with 4Gamer, translated by Siliconera, Ryozo Tsujimoto, Producer on the series, said the following:

"We plan to release Event Quests after Monster Hunter Rise releases. We’ll also do title updates. However, we’ve yet to consider something like the aforementioned ‘G‘ or Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. There’s still a lot more that we need to do before that.”

That quote came back in October 2020, so their thoughts might have changed, but nothing else has been said on the matter since.

Of course, if something else is revealed following Monster Hunter Rise's launch, we'll be sure to update you.
