Everything and everyone can be corrupted. The rules are changing. Mauer Der Toten has arrived and the release of Black Ops Cold War's new Zombies map is the biggest addition to the mode in some time.
LATEST - Mauer Der Toten Now Live
The Season 4 Reloaded update went live overnight and brought with it the brand new Zombies content we've been eagerly anticipating.
Mauer Der Toten is now live and ready to play. We can't wait to see what's next in the Dark Aether story and what Easter Eggs it might produce.
Names Of New Enemies Revealed
Earlier, Treyarch posted their Black Ops Cold War Season 4 Reloaded Patch Notes. As you might imagine, a lot of the content pertained to Weapon Balancing changes and Black Ops' Multiplayer mode. However, there was one thing that stood out for fans of Black Ops Cold War's Zombies... The names of the new enemies have been revealed.
Here's what the Patch Notes said:
" New enemies in “Mauer der Toten”: The Disciple and Tormentors."
Of course, it isn't a lot... But, it is exciting. The Disciple has to relate to the skull-faced creature (you can see in the Featured Image above), but what about Tormentors? Looking at the Mauer Der Toten Gameplay Trailer, Outbreak's "Zombie Mechs" are making an appearance so we could see yet another Special / Elite enemy to face off against.
When Does Mauer Der Toten Release?
Mauer Der Toten is due to release as a part of the Season 4 Reloaded update coming to Black Ops Cold War on July 15th. We don't have confirmation as to when the update itself is due to release, but if we look at past updates... We have some idea as to when to expect it.
Following this, the Easter Egg / Main Quest is due to go live at 10:00 PST / 13:00 EST / 18:00 BST. This should give everyone enough time to have a go at Mauer Der Toten and figure out what's what before everything starts kicking off.
When Do We Learn More?
With Mauer Der Toten due to release in a matter of days, we're expecting to see more from Treyarch about what's coming in Mauer Der Toten and the Season 4 Reloaded pretty soon.
We should see Treyarch reveal the Season 4 Reloaded Roadmap around 10:00 PST / 13:00 EST / 18:00 BST on July 12th or July 13th, if past updates are anything to go by. Then, we should see Raven Software confirm their plans for Warzone and offer up Patch Notes on July 14th, the day before the update.
First Look Via Gameplay Trailer
We might now know too much on paper, but the latest Gameplay Trailer revealed by Treyarch has offered us a fantastic look at what's coming to Black Ops Cold War Zombies in Mauer Der Toten. It looks like parts of the map are going to be a rehash of a Campaign mission, but this is nothing new. Multiplayer maps and Firebase Z both make use of locales visited in Black Ops Cold War's campaign and this isn't anything new to the franchise either.
Still... There's a new Wonder Weapon on display and a terrifying new Elite Enemy. Check out what's going on in the Gameplay Trailer below:
There's A New Zombies Perk Coming
As expected, another "new" Perk is coming to Black Ops Cold War Zombies with the release of Mauer Der Toten. Firebase Z saw Tombstone added to the game and now we're getting Mule Kick.
For the most part, fans are a lot happier with the addition of Mule Kick than they were the announcement that Tombstone was being added.
Mule Kick gives the player the option to carry a third weapon at its base level. Black Ops Cold War's Perk tiers are a new feature, though, so we don't know for sure what else it might be able to do. It could become another fantastic addition to the mode.
All The Meta Changes Detailed So Far
Treyarch hasn't shared everything changing with their next title update for Black Ops Cold War, but ahead of Mauer Der Toten's release, they have detailed some of the changes coming to the game's Zombies mode.
Below, you can check out the Patch Notes from Treyarch's Mauer Der Toten Post earlier in the month:
- Reduced enemy health caps:
- Zombies: Reduced to +100% at high rounds (down from +300%)
- Specials: Reduced to +50% at high rounds (down from +100%)
- Elites: Reduced to +25% at high rounds (down from +100%)
- HVTs: Reduced to +10% at high rounds (down from +100%)
- Reduced health of armour for Medium and Heavy zombies by 30%.
- Buffed sniper rifle critical damage multipliers, stock ammo, and max damage.
- Buffed melee weapon Pack-a-Punch and triple Pack-a-Punch damage multipliers.
- Equipment, Support, and Field Upgrades (Frost Blast and Energy Mine) will scale their damage evenly with this update. Equipment and Support will now be much more consistent in their ability to kill enemies, and Lethal Equipment and ground-based Support will see an increase in damage in many instances
As you can see, they're not major changes but they should allow for better survivability at higher rounds.
