The hype is real, with Marvel's Wolverine officially confirmed and more information on the way soon.
The game, developed by Insomniac Games, was revealed at the 2022 PlayStation Showcase and caught everyone off guard, with the slightest reveal of Wolverine's claws enough to send fans into a frenzy.
Since then, news has naturally been sparse, as Wolverine looks set to be a 2024-25 release.
With that in mind, let's take a look at everything we know about Marvel's Wolverine on PS5.
Marvel's Wolverine
Marvel's Wolverine was revealed at the 2022 PlayStation Showcase, with a short trailer of a lone man sitting in a bar seeming innocuous at first.
However, after the claws came out, people lost their minds, with the Wolverine logo confirming that everyone's favourite X-Man was finally receiving another standalone game.
Not only that, but the game was confirmed to be developed by the team behind Spider-Man, Insomniac.
Official information pertaining to the game is presently scant, but there area few details that could indicate the scope and size of one of the most hotly anticipated titles in gaming.
PlayStation Showcase 2023
The 2023 PlayStation Showcase event has been confirmed, with a date, start time and potential run time all confirmed by Sony.
The event promises to showcase the very best upcoming PS5 and PS VR2 games that are currently in development, with titles from major developers and indie teams set to be displayed.
Marvel's Wolverine was showcased at last year's PlayStation event and was confirmed to also be developed by Insomniac Games.
Whilst we only got a very small glimpse of this new title, there's every chance more story details are teased at this year's showcase.
Of course, with the game still in early development, there's a chance we may not see anything from this game but either way, we're still hyped to see Weapon X eventually arrive on our consoles.
Release Date and Price
Right now, there is no confirmed release date for Marvel's Wolverine, with the game unlikely to release any time soon.
Judging by the reveal details, we would expect Marvel's Wolverine to be a late-2024 release, potentially filling the same sort of slot occupied by Insomniac's Spider-Man.
Of course, depending on development schedules, there's a chance that we may not see Weapon X arrive on the PS5 until 2025.
Naturally, there is little detail on the game's price, but once again we would expect the game to retail at around £69.99 area that we have seen games like Spider-Man and God of War: Ragnarok retail for in recent years.
Marvel's Wolverine will be a PS5 exclusive.
Story Rumours
When a game like Marvel's Wolverine is revealed, you can be sure that the rumour mill will start to turn with a real sense of urgency.
The game will undoubtedly feature some of Logan's biggest foes, with villains like Sabretooth already rumoured to feature.
Right now, there is no suggestion that this Wolverine game will feature an introduction to the X-Men, but this could change.
Fans were excited to spot a Hulk Easter Egg in the teaser trailer, with many hoping that we get to replicate Logan and Banner's extreme battles on our PS5 consoles.
Expanded Universe
With Spider-Man developer Insomniac sitting at the helm of the Wolverine project, fans have started to wonder if an expanded cinematic universe was in-play like we've seen with the MCU.
Right now, there hasn't been any suggestion that this is at play, but we wouldn't be surprised if Logan and Peter Parker share the screen at some point.
Insomniac's near-perfect handling of the Spider-Man lore in 2018 gave people plenty of hope and Spider-Man 2 is set to take things to the next level.
If Wolverine is given the same love and care as Spider-Man, then Insomniac could well and truly assert themselves as the go-to place for Marvel when it comes to expanding their gaming universe.
