Madden 22 Ultimate Team temporarily shut down for PS4 and PS5 players

Madden 22 Ultimate Team is apparently having some serious issues following the latest Title Update, and the mode has been completely shuttered temporarily.

We've got all the details on which players are being affected and when things could be resolved for Madden 22 Ultimate Team.

If players are having trouble getting into Ultimate Team on Madden 22 for PS4 or PS5, they're far from alone there.

Since releasing the Madden 22 December Title Update on all platforms, earlier today, multiple users on both PlayStation platforms had issues connecting to Madden Ultimate Team.

The issue has now reached such a point that EA Sports has temporarily shutdown access to Ultimate Team, releasing the following statement via their Madden NFL Direct account:

"We're aware and investigating an issue for PS4 and PS5 players unable to access Madden Ultimate Team.

We will be gating Madden Ultimate Team for PS4 and PS5 as we investigate and address the issue.

We will provide updates as we get them."

The message was posted at 9:04 pm ET on December 2, 2021, but there's no word yet about when things could be resolved.

While they didn't mention the latest Madden 22 Title Update in the tweet, the issues are likely connected to changes made by that download.

Madden 22 Update could've triggered shutdown

There weren't any clearly identified Ultimate Team changes in the full Patch Notes, but it was mentioned that stability improvements were made for the Madden ID.

This is the same system which logs you in to various parts of the game, and those upgrades could have inadvertently cause this issue.

There are few other culprits within those official Patch Notes, as most of the other fixes were specific to Franchise Mode, updated X-Factor abilities, or adjusted next gen gameplay only.

With this issue isolated to PlayStation users for some reason, it may be linked to Sony itself, which is not unlike an issue continuing to plague Xbox users.

Since the launch of Madden 22, it's joined a group of games with online features that have mysteriously and inexplicably been crashing or shutting down Xbox consoles.

The issue has happened to Madden 22, FIFA 22, NBA 2K22, Splitgate, and several other titles, and Microsoft is still working to completely remedy that problem.
