Ubisoft's next Rainbow Six game is going to be worth checking out, even if you're not a fan of Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft is taking the series in a different direction with Rainbow Six Extraction - it's moving away from Terrorist Hunt and competitive multiplayer and towards Alien invasions and co-operative gameplay.
We know Rainbow Six Extraction is going to be on Xbox Game Pass but is it coming to PS5 consoles and the next-gen PlayStation too? Here's what we know.
Will Extraction be available on PS5?
If you were one of the lucky few who managed to get your hands on a next-gen console over the holiday period, or if you picked one up before that, you'll be pleased to know that you can look forward to playing Rainbow Six Extraction on both PS5 and Xbox Series X when it launches. If you have Xbox Game Pass, you can play it on your Xbox Series X via that on Day One!
The new Rainbow Six game is going to be available on the following platforms and is reportedly going to have cross-progression and cross-platform matchmaking at launch.
- Available platforms...
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox One
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC
- via Stadia
- via Ubisoft Connect
- via Epic Games Store
These features aren't even fully implemented in Rainbow Six Siege - however, this could be down to the fact that Rainbow Six Siege is primarily a PvP title and Extraction is a co-operative shooter.
The gameplay will be the same, more or less, but Extraction is going to feature several unique mechanics to reflect the new threat being faced by the Rainbow Six Operators. We're not sure how this will fit into the narrative being explored through Rainbow Six Siege's quarterly seasons, but we expect that to be cleared up when Extraction is released on January 20th, 2022.
