GTA 5 Next-Gen Release Date & Time
The next-gen version of GTA 5 will be released on Tuesday, 15 March worldwide. Pre-load is available right now on all platforms so you can get the game downloaded so there's minimum wait time required. The physical copy will not be released until April.
For a short time, the game will be discounted on the PlayStation and Xbox digital storefronts. There is a slightly larger discount available on PS5 initially, this is believed - but unconfirmed - to be due to an agreement between Sony and Rockstar Games.
What's new in GTA 5?
There will be a completely restructured GTA Online intro coming to the game to help new players get adjusted much quicker.
As for the main GTA 5 game, there is an increase to the resolution with 4K now an option and a frame rate of up to 60FPS. On top of these visual changes, the overall game world should run a lot smoother and lead to way shorter load times.
Haptic feedback is coming for the DualSense controller and generally improved audio options are coming too including 3D audio.
You can carry over your progress from GTA 5 on the PS4 and Xbox One using the Rockstar Social Club. You can store your GTA Online character and Story Mode save files in the cloud for 90 days and download them on the next-gen version of the game.
