There are a surprising number of ways to die within Genshin Impact if you're not too careful about your surroundings.
On a solo playthrough, it's not technically a game over until all four characters have been knocked out, while on co-op mode you can revive immediately after your characters get knocked out to join the fight.
There are different ways of "dying" within the game:
- Taking damage until HP hits 0
- Falling off of a high location
- Drowning
- Going "out of bounds"
The first two phases out the character that was knocked out, and is immediately replaced by the next character in the team.
Meanwhile, the last two occurrences respawn you to the nearest location from where you last were before the death occurred, but the entire team will take a small amount of damage as a penalty.

If by pure bad luck you end up with all of your party members knocked out, you'll be given the option to revive to the nearest Statue of the Seven afterwards. Once respawned, your characters will start with about a quarter of their HP as a penalty.
To avoid this, make sure you frequently use character abilities that heal your party, and stock up on food that heals or revives.
There are a number of foods that allows players to revive a fallen character, with a varying requirement of ingredients to cook it with:
- Crab, Ham & Veggie Bake
- Fullmoon Egg
- Golden Shrimp Balls
- Mondstadt Grilled Fish
- Mora Meat
- Steak
- Stir-Fried Filet
- Tea Break Pancake
- Teyvat Fried Egg
- Vegetarian Abalone

There are also special character versions of specific dishes when you cook them using their specific character, having somewhat of a better effect:
- Definitely Not Bar Food! (Diona's Mondstadt Grilled Fish)
- Flash Fried Filet (Beidou's Stir-Fried Filet)
- Lighter-Than-Air Pancake (Noelle's Tea Break Pancake)
- Nutritious Meal V. 593 (Sucrose's Crab, Ham & Veggie Bake)
- Outrider's Champion Steak! (Amber's Steak)
- Qiankun Mora Meat (Ningguang's Mora Meat)
- Teyvat Charred Egg (Bennett's Teyvat Fried Egg)
Be warned that once you use it on someone, it has a 2-minute cooldown before any other revival food can be used.
It doesn't seem very long, but every second counts in the game, especially if you're in a hard fight.
Do take note that consuming revival food does not raise a character's hunger meter, so you can immediately feed them healing food afterwards.
