Genshin Impact 2.8 the last major update before the arrival of Sumeru is just hours away.
But before players get their hands on all the new content, Genshin Impact servers will go down for maintenance downtime for a considerable amount of time until the next update is live.
Here is everything players need to know about the Genshin Impact 2.8 maintenance schedule including server status, free compensation Primogems rewards, and all the latest news approaching launch.
Server Maintenance Schedule
Genshin Impact servers will go under maintenance on July 13, 2022, at 6am server time (Chinese Standard Time).
In other time zones, Genshin Impact servers will go down at:
- July 12, 2022, 2:00 pm PST
- July 12, 2022, 5:00 pm EST
- July 12, 2022, 11:00 pm GMT
Servers will be down for around 5 hours, and players will receive compensatory Primogems for the time they cannot play the game.

Free Primogems for Genshin Impact Server Maintenance
Travelers will receive 60 Primogems for each hour the servers are not available. However, if the game is back online before the 5 hours scheduled. Players will still obtain a minimum of 300 Primogems.
Additionally, miHoYo gives 300 Primogems compensation for all the bug fixes found in the previous update. So, travelers who log in to the game after the maintenance will receive 600 Primogems, almost 4 wishes.
Free Primogems will be delivered to each player by in-game email. In addition, if the maintenance takes more than 5 hours, an extra 60 Primogems for each hour of delay will be added.
Genshin Impact 2.8 Preload Available Now
Genshin Impact players can start preloading the next update. The ver. 2.8 file size is around 2.8 Gb for Android and IOS and around 10 Gb for PC players.
PC users can continue playing while they are downloading files. Unfortunately, there is no preload option for Playstation Players.
Genshin Impact 2.8 Banners
- Leaves in the Wind will feature Kazuha - a 5-star Anemo Sword Character.
- Sparkling Steps will feature the rerun of Klee – a 5-star Pyro Catalyst Character.
Both Banners will share the following 4-star characters:
- Heizou - 4-star Anemo, Catalyst User
- Ningguang - 4-star Geo, Catalyst User
- Thoma - 4-star Pyro, Polearm User.
Weapon Banner
The first weapon banner will feature one catalyst and one bow, both reruns.
Lost Prayer of the Sacred Winds 5-star catalyst, an interesting weapon for DPS and Sub-DPS characters
Freedom Sworn is the second 5-star weapon of the Banner, a strong sword for characters that creates elemental reactions.
These 4-star weapons complete the roster:
- Favonius Lance - Polearm
- The Widsith - Catalyst
- Rainslasher - Claymore
- Alley Flash - Sword
- Mitternachts Waltz - Bow
Second Phase
For the second phase of Genshin Impact 2.8, we will receive only one rerun, Yoimiya.
The Second Weapon Banner will feature the Thundering Pulse 5-star bow and the polearm Skyward Spine.

Genshin Impact 2.8 Events
Genshin Impact 2.8 will release two new character stories, we will get to know more about the past of Kazuha, and we will get familiar with the new character Heizou.
Fischl, Mona, Kazuha, and Xinyan are the companion of the Traveler and Paimon that will return to the Golden Apple Archipelago.
Something is happening in the Dawn Winery, so the travel is there to join. To our surprise, we will meet with Diluc and his new outfit for some OG battles.
Genshin Impact 2.8 will introduce two new skins, Diluc's and Fischl's Summer outfits.
