Genshin Impact has come a long way since its release almost a year ago. With tonnes of new characters, new areas and lots to loot, there's quite a lot to pay attention to. With update 2.1 just around the corner, it can be easy to forget the basics.
If you want to play it the second it releases, you may want to pre-install the game update in advance. Here is what you should know and how to pre-install.
Genshin Impact 2.1 Release Date
Players are expecting the next update to arrive on September 1st but we don't have the official announcement just yet. This means we have under two weeks to get everything ready in time.
This means that miHoYo will take down the servers temporarily beforehand to get the game ready. Make sure to get it preinstalled a day or two in advance to avoid that server outing.
How to Pre-install on PC
On PC, you simply have to boot up the game launcher and click on the "Game Pre-Installation" option on the screen.
After this, the game update should automatically install. You may still need to do a small update on the day as the team likely isn't finished with the update just yet. If so, at least you will have most of your download time done.
Genshin Impact players may also need to update their Launcher to the latest version, which is currently v2.22.1.0. They can do this by following the prompts provided after opening the Launcher.
How to Pre-install on Mobile
To do this, log into your account and go onto the "Paimon Menu". Go to settings, then click "Pre-Install Resource Package". If this doesn't work, after you've logged in, you may spot the package on the main menu. Just click on it to get everything installed.
Unfortunately, we still don't have an option to preload on consoles but, hopefully we will see one in the future. We will update you if this changes over the coming weeks.
