It's no surprise that a brand new Chapter in Fortnite has got off to a slow start when it comes to updates. Fairly early on in the new season, it was revealed that updates up to 19.40 were being worked on. Then it would be on to Fortnite Update 20.00 for Season 2.
With that, it looks likely that Fortnite Update 19.40 will be the last for some time, so what can we expect?
Will it be a colossal game-changing patch with tons of new content?
Here's what we know about Fortnite 19.40 including its release time, server downtime schedule, and what's been revealed so far.
LATEST - Fortnite Update 19.40 Server Downtime Revealed
We're finally just hours out from Fortnite Update 19.40, and Epic has just revealed the server downtime schedule players will have to sit through first.
The upcoming Fortnite server downtime will kick off at 4am EST on Tuesday, 1 March, taking down matchmaking from 3:30am EST before bringing it back after a few hours with the new update primed and ready to go.
Fortnite Update 19.40 Release Date & Time
As usual, the Fortnite Update will drop on a Tuesday, landing on 1 March.
Season 1 doesn't end until Saturday, 19 March, so Epic has given some room between the final update and the end of the season.
What to expect in Fortnite Update 19.40
In terms of expectations for Fortnite Update 19.40, we're setting the bar quite low when it comes to immediate impact. The update may bring some clarity on any end-of-season event but we're not expecting any game-changing content in the short term.
There may still be time for another smaller update to take place like at the beginning of the season and these tend to bring more content for immediate use/release.
That's not to say that 19.40 will be boring because there may be plenty of content that's exciting and worthwhile, we just might not see it in play for another couple of weeks.
What's most interesting to us is whether or not more Star Wars content gets updated or added to the game. Rumours of a Star Wars season have been getting quieter recently and it could be that Epic wanted to take attention away from them for now.
