Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 is almost at an end, with Season 5 starting on Wednesday, 2 December.

Before the new season arrives there is the Galactus Event to look forward to!

Galactus is known as the “Devourer of Worlds”, so could we be getting a new map in Season 5?

Here’s everything we know.

Latest News - Drive The Battle Bus!

It has now been confirmed by Epic Games that players will be able to drive the Battle Bus as part of the upcoming Galactus event.

Recently they have been hinting at it, such as by showing Gamma Cells loaded in the Battle Bus, presumably to use the bus as an RC missile.

The Fortnite characters have loaded the buses with Gamma Cells, could these be enough to take down Galactus and save the Fortnite map?

With the event being the biggest yet, 4GB in size compared to the Black Hole event which was 480MB, it seems this will be a long event with many twists and turns.

Galactus Event

To mark the end of a season, Epic Games will bring in an event.

The scope with the Marvel themed event is huge, especially with the villain Galactus.

The above Tweet suggests the season-ending event will commence on Tuesday, 1 December at 4pm ET / 9pm GMT.

Battle Pass

Much like any Fortnite season, we have another Battle Pass for Chapter 2 Season 5.

Inside the battle pass, we’ll have a wide array of skins, emotes, pickaxes, gliders, and (of course) V-bucks!

The Fortnite Season 5 will be the same price of 950 V-bucks for the battle pass. Which equals out to around $10 USD, and players will be able to opt into the Battle Pass Bundle.

The latter will cost 2800 V-bucks and will reward you with 25 tiers of the Battle Pass to start!

Map Changes

Every new Fortnite season implements some sort of map changes; although this past season had minor ones.

With the reveal by Donald Mustard's brother, on the ITalkFortnite podcast, that the new Chapter 2 map is actually the original Chapter 1 map but altered when it got sucked into the black hole, could this mean the original map, or at least a version of it, will return in the future?

Hear what he has to say at 2:04:00, the embedded video is timestamped.

Galactus is the Devourer of Worlds and he is fast approaching Fortnite.

Could Galactus devour the Chapter 2 map and bring a new map after only 4 seasons?

Theme

Although it is hard to speculate the future theme for Fortnite’s next season, let’s take a look at all past season’s themes.

  • Season 1 – Theme = NONE
  • Season 2 – Theme = Medieval
  • Season 3 -Theme = Space
  • Season 4 – Theme = Super Heroes
  • Season 5 – Theme = Worlds Collide
  • Season 6 – Theme = Halloween
  • Season 7 – Theme = Winter
  • Season 8 – Theme = Pirates
  • Season 9 – Theme = Future
  • Season X – Theme = Time
  • CH2S1 – Theme = Doppelgangers
  • CH2S2 – Theme = Ghost vs Shadow
  • CH2S3 - Theme = Aquatic
  • CH2S4 - Theme = Marvel

Trailer

The trailer for this past season was underwhelming to say the least.

Expect the new one for Season 5 to get leaked in the days leading up to the new season.

Skins

Any new season implements an ample amount of new skins into the Fortnite locker.

Expect the same next season; with more news in the coming weeks.

Next-Gen

Fortnite is playable at launch on both the Xbox Series X|S and the Playstation 5.

The game is playable at 4K/60FPS on both main consoles, and 1080p/60FPS on the Xbox Series S.

There are new dynamic visuals and physics on both new consoles,

Experience a more dynamic and interactive world with grass and trees responding to explosions, enhanced fluid simulations for smoke and liquid (cooler-looking smoke and liquid effects), and all-new Storm and cloud effects.

New Dualsense Controller immersion has been added for PS5 and both platforms load the game and get players into matches much faster.

Right now the games are playing an enhanced backwards compatible version of the previous gen versions.

It is rumoured that the game will be getting a next gen overhaul and will move to Unreal Engine 5 in 2021.

Mythic Weapons

Over the last few seasons we have seen the addition of Mythic Weapons, these are usually carried by Boss enemies that are extremely difficult to defeat.

Once defeated players can use their Mythic weapons, such as Midas' Drum Gun in Season 2.

This season there is Doctor Doom at Doom's Domain and Iron Man at Stark Industries.

Defeating these will grant players their Mythic weapons.

There are also other Mythic weapons found at the new Stark Quinjets that land on the map at the start of the match.

Mythic weapons have had a mixed response from players.

Some players love them, while some wish they weren't in the game.

But Epic Games seems to like to include them so expect new ones to be added in Chapter 2 Season 5.

Weapons

Likewise, this past season was one of the most drastic loot pool changes we have seen in quite some time

We can expect more vaulting/unvaulting and the addition of new weapons in the future.

As of right now it is rumoured that a Slurp Bazooka, which should work the same as the Bandage Bazooka but also grant shield, and a Fire Extinguisher, which will put out fires caused by Firefly's and Doom's Gauntlers, are coming in Season 5.

The Hand Cannon is also rumoured to be making a return next season.

Competitive, FNCS & World Cup

Since the cancellation of the 2020 Fortnite World Cup, we know the entire competitive road map for the rest of the year.

Epic Games has outlined the future of competitive events for the next couple of seasons, but we do not know what Season 5 will be.

Season 5 will likely continue with Cash Cups on most days, including influencer themed events.

Dreamhack is still ongoing so expect to see more of those events over the rest of 2020.

The Season 5 FNCS is expected to be Duos, the mode was recently added back into Arena, but as of yet it is unconfirmed.

Future Announcement Teaser

According to iFireMonkey, Donald Mustard is set to announce another major Fortnite announcement during The Game Awards in December!

This announcement will likely either be a new collaboration, such as the current Marvel deal, or the announcement of the game moving to Unreal Engine 5 and getting a complete next gen overhaul.
