Brexit could ruin your Football Manager 2021 save

The first half of the FM21 Winter Update has arrived.

The annual update has brought a host of changes to the Sports Interactive title, but the biggest for many is the addition of Yousouffa Moukoko.

The German wonderkid has joined the title, but signing him may prove trickier than you thought.

The Best Wonderkid Ever

He hasn't been around the FM scene for long, but there is some serious hype surrounding Yousouffa Moukoko.

The German forward has joined Eduardo Camavinga as one of only two players who possess' a PA range of 170-200.

Those who have used the Dortmund forward have certainly been impressed with his performances on the field. He's even been dubbed "the best wonderkid in FM history".

Mr Freddy Adu may beg to differ though.

Political Issues

One of the many great things about gaming is the sense of escapism, the fact that you can get away from what is going on in the world around you and focus on something else.

However, that is not always the case with Football Manager.

Sports Interactive has always prided themselves on including the finer details into their titles, including incorporating the COVID-19 pandemic into this years edition of FM.

It's not the Coronavirus that will cause you issues if you're looking to sign Yousouffa Moukoko though, it's Brexit.

International Appearances

The UK's decision to leave the EU has played havoc with the ability to play players coming from abroad, especially youngsters like Moukoko.

The striker begins the save as a 15-year-old and with no senior international appearances to his name, acquiring a work permit may prove tricky.

Thankfully, you should be able to overcome the issue by applying for a work permit separately. If you can assure the governing bodies that Moukoko will play enough games, you should be able to get the decision overturned.

But even still, you won't be able to bring the German into your setup until January 2021, some six months into your save.

16th Birthday

Moukoko will begin your save as a 15-year-old, which provides a sticking point if you're looking to pick him up right from the word go.

Regulations in Germany prevent U16's from signing for clubs abroad, and, with Moukoko not turning 16 until November, that means the summer transfer window is a no-go.

You can conclude a transfer in the summer window, but the deal itself won't go through until the January window opens on Saturday, January 2.

Signing Moukoko won't be straightforward, but he'll be worth it. Trust us.
