FIFA 23 Set-Pieces: MAJOR overhaul REVEALED

FIFA 23 is just around the corner, with a ton of major details being revealed in the latest gameplay trailer.

Check below for everything you need to know about set-piece overhauls in FIFA 23

FIFA 23 Set-Pieces

EA has revealed some major changes arriving to set-pieces in FIFA 23, with the old system completely overhauled.

Free Kicks and Corner Kicks now share their functionality with a more intuitive approach in which you choose where the player strikes the ball.

There are four player attributes that are best utilised in set-piece takers:

  • Curve
  • Shot Power
  • Crossing
  • Free Kick Accuracy

Free Kicks in FIFA 23 will also include a 'draft excluder, also known as a player who lays down behind the wall.

FIFA 23 Penalties

Along with Free Kicks and Corners, Penalty Kicks have also been changed in FIFA 23.

When you step up to the spot you will see a shrinking Composure Ring that is based on your player’s Composure Attribute. Ideally, you want to time your shot when the ring is at its smallest, just as it touches the perimeter of the ball, in order to take a penalty kick with great accuracy and power.

The main factors to consider when taking penalties include:

  • Composure Ring
  • Composure Attribute
  • Shot Precision
  • Penalty Attribute
  • Shot Power Attribute
  • Overpowering a shot could mean missing the goal completely.
  • Timed Finishing is removed from Penalties, so there is no longer any need for a second button press after locking in your shot.
