FIFA fanatics are gearing up for the release of the new game by getting stuck into the Ultimate Team Web App which is now live.
Whilst we wait for FIFA 23's full release, we're taking an in-depth look at some of the most shocking new ratings.
This year a certain Leeds player will trump the two GOATs in the most important stat of all in FIFA.
Whilst we expected the two greatest players of all time to be downgraded this year, we never thought they would be hit this hard...
GOATs Hit Hard
Cristiano Ronaldo is officially a 90 OVR in FIFA 23, with the Portuguese superstar receiving his lowest rating since FIFA 11.
The Portugal international striker's dribbling has been downgraded from 88 to 85, whilst his passing has been dropped from 82 to 78.
However, all hope is not lost. The former Real Madrid number seven has retained his five-star skill moves and a four-star weak-foot.
Having scored 18 Premier League goals during the 2021/22 campaign, CR7 will deservedly be given 92 shooting in FIFA 23.
Lionel Messi has received a downgrade in FIFA 23, with a 91 OVR confirmed for one of the best-ever players to walk the planet.
The little magician's shooting has been dropped from 92 to 89, whilst his pace, dribbling and passing have all taken hits too.
This downgrade sees his rating fall to the lowest seen in a FIFA series for over a decade for the Argentine, with a good season needed to get the current Ballon d'Or winner back on top.
Leeds Lad on Top
Ronaldo's pace was always going to be adjusted to match his tiring legs, but a downgrade this drastic has come as a shock to the FIFA community.
CR7's pace has been slashed by six points down to 81 in the new game.
Similarly, Messi has been handed a giant -4 downgrade to his pace, taking it to 81 in FIFA 23.
This is a new low for both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in any FIFA title and is made even more embarrassing when you take a look at Patrick Bamford's new card...
Yes, you read that correctly - Bamford is quicker than Messi and Ronaldo in FIFA 23.
The irony here is, due to his injury troubles, Bamford spent most of last season struggling to walk let alone run, and he has still been rated higher in pace than the two legends.
Pace is always the first statistic you look for when selecting a card in Ultimate Team, with the mechanics of the game notoriously favouring speed as the meta every year.
The faster the player is, the more effective he is in-game.
These downgrades, therefore, could have a significant negative impact on the GOATs' effectiveness as FIFA 23 forwards.
