Few moments in FC 26 feel as satisfying as curling a free kick into the top corner. However, free kicks are harder and different this year.

Community veterans have noted that FC 26 has reworked set pieces to reward technique and player stats more heavily than ever. While there isn't any guaranteed "score every time" method, there are some reliable techniques that can boost your success rate significantly.

If you want to learn how to score free kicks in FC 26, continue with our guide as we break it down.

Unlike in previous years, FC 26 punishes sloppy execution and weak attributes. Consistent success, even for elite players, requires the perfect ratio of power, placement, and curve.

As the Dead Ball PlayStyle now has a greater influence on accuracy and flight path, it makes certain players more proficient from set pieces than others.

Technique 1: The Low Straight Power Shot

Currently, this is the most reliable method for direct free kicks in FC 26.

Here's how to perform it:

  • Choose a player with high free kick accuracy, curve, and preferably the Dead Ball PlayStyle.
  • Now aim your cursor directly at the goal corner and position the reticle in the center of the ball.
  • Apply 3 to 3.5 bars of power and try using a straight shot, not curled, as it will blast the ball low and fast towards the center.

Even if the keeper is positioned correctly, the force of the shot makes it unstoppable. Some players who can execute this technique with consistent success are James Ward-Prowse, Beckham, and Roberto Carlos.

Technique 2: Short Pass and Bang

If direct shots aren't working for you, this method will add unpredictability and could be surprisingly effective.

Here's how to perform it:

  • Hold L2/LT and press X/A to play a short pass.
  • Now quickly switch to the receiving player.
  • Take one touch and unleash a power shot toward the far corner.

This method will work perfectly when your opponent's keeper is expecting a direct free kick. For this, you don't even need a specialist; just choose a player with high long shots and shot power.

Technique 3: Curled Free Kicks (Outside/Inside Foot)

Traditional curlers are still effective, but they need pinpoint precision and high-attribute players.

Here's how to perform it:

  • Move your targeting cursor left or right until your shot changes to Outside Foot Curled or Inside Foot Curled, depending on your player's dominant foot.
  • Try aiming between the keeper and the last man in the wall.
  • Use 3 to 3.5 bars of power and execute a regular shot (O/B).

When you have perfected your aim, this technique is one of the cleaner ways to score goals because it replicates real-world free kicks from players like Messi or Miyami.
