Two Major Issues FC 24 Holiday Update Doesn't Fix

FC 24 Holiday Update

FC 24 Holiday Update

It's likely been a year filled with mixed emotions for the FC 24 production team, who would have experienced the highs of a new chapter and the lows of a disappointing launch.

There's no doubt that FC 24 was highly popular when it first released just over two months ago, but that popularity quickly diminished after several gameplay issues spoilt the experience for many players around the world.

Before now, five Title Updates were applied to the FIFA successor in the hope it would address some of its major flaws, but it appeared much of the damage was already done, with negative reviews flooding in and players abandoning the game altogether.

EA will be holding onto some hope, however, as a new Holiday Update (Title Update 6) has just gone live in FC 24. Below, we will take a look at what the latest update addresses, and most alarmingly, what it doesn't!

Title Update 6 is a big one, with changes being applied to gameplay, Ultimate Team, and face scans.

In summary, EA says the update adds 94 Player Items to Ultimate Team, over 100 new and updated star heads, and improvements to attacking scenarios on the pitch.

Unfortunately, as thorough as the update is, it appears it's not the answer to all of FC 24's problems, which include two of the following things:

Finesse+

Within the patch notes released by EA, it was stated that finesse shot accuracy had been slightly reduced when performed by players with the Finesse and Finesse+ PlayStyles.

Despite the slight tweak, it seems finesse shot accuracy wasn't quite reduced enough, with several players including reputable leaker @DonkTrading reporting that the Finesse+ PlayStyle is "still broken".

Another user said: "In 3 of the 4 games I played last night, Salah/Son scored an outside of the box finesse," backing up other comments.

Cutbacks

There have been many complaints about the defending mechanics in FC 24, and the inability to prevent cutbacks is certainly one of the most talked about issues in FC 24.

What was already an overpowered and abused attacking strategy has supposedly just become worse, with @DonkTrading claiming cutbacks are "more broken".

After reading the latest patch notes, this somehow doesn't come as a surprise. That's because EA has significantly reduced the amount of pressure the defensive team can apply to players along the sidelines, handing attackers more space and additional passing options.

It remains to be seen whether or not this change will have any impact on the effectiveness of cutbacks, but some players are already convinced it will.

"Just makes it easier to go down to the byline if they've reduced sideline pressure. Personally I can only see this update resulting in even more cutbacks," one comment read.
