As with any long-standing franchise, FIFA as a game has developed over time with certain features coming and going throughout the years.
There have been whispers amongst the Ultimate Team community for a while now that they would love to see one classic feature return to the game.
The well-documented split between EA and FIFA could present an opportunity for the game developers to finally bring the feature back in their new title - EA Sports FC.
Long awaited return
To the disappointment of many FUT fanatics, EA announced that Trade Offers would be removed from their title back in FIFA 15.
As most of you will remember, Trade Offers were a way for users to exchange items with one another directly rather than purchasing the card on the market purely for coins.
You were able to offer multiple items as well as coins in return for a card on the transfer market that you desired, as you can see in the image below.
The items and coins that you offered were temporarily removed from your account whilst you waited for the Trade Offer to be accepted or rejected.
Depending on the outcome of the Trade Offer, the items that you offered would return to your club or be removed in exchange for the desired card.
Modernised system
Now, it would be silly to suggest that EA bring Trade Offers back just as they were when they were removed from the game in FIFA 15.
Trade Offers should be a feature exclusively available for untradeable items.
Say you pack a top-tier untradeable card that has a high value, Lionel Messi for example, but you have already completed his Player of the Month SBC, you will have very little use for his base version.
Rather than having to use his 91 OVR to bump up the team rating of a random SBC, you'll be able to use Messi as part of a Trade Offer.
The player you receive in the Trade Offer will also be untradeable.
You will be able to search and browse for players on a separate untradeable trade offer market.
Goodbye problems
When the Trade Offer feature was removed from the game eight years ago, FIFA's Community Manager made the following statement:
"Although some honest players used this feature to trade with friends, it became one of the methods used by coin sellers to sell and move coins. Account phishers also abused Trade Offers by moving stolen players and coins after wrongfully gaining access to unsuspecting FUT player accounts."
The untradeable Trade Offer feature removes the element of coins from the system entirely.
This means there will no longer be a way of selling and moving coins via Trade Offers in Ultimate Team.
