In an always-online game like Destiny 2, network issues can be supremely frustrating. Internet issues can oftentimes be outside of our control, but sometimes there are solutions.
One such issue, that has gained a bit of notoriety within the community, is error code: CABBAGE, perhaps because of its amusing acronym.
How to Fix Destiny 2 Cabbage Error
According to Bungie themselves, CABBAGE is a router issue, and describe it thusly:
“Error code CABBAGE may occur when router settings block communications to or from Destiny services. We are investigating the impact on various devices.”
Thankfully though, there are a few things you can do to alleviate the situation, we will go through each below:
Restart Your Router
Let's start with the simplest fix, simply turn your router off, and then back on again.
You would be surprised by how many times this simple act will get you out of trouble.
If that doesn't help though, move onto the next step.
Use a Wired Connection
If you have a LAN cable handy that is long enough, you could try connecting your PC/console directly to your router.
This solution can sometimes avoid the CABBAGE error, but chances are you would probably already be using a wired connection if you could, especially when playing a game like Destiny 2.
Reconfigure your Router Settings
This last option is the most drastic, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
On the back of your router will be its IP address, copy it down and search it in your address bar or on Google.
You will be asked for your admin name and password, enter these now. If you haven't manually changed either, this information is also likely on the back of your router.
Now look for the following settings:
- UPnP - Make sure this is enabled
- Extended Security - Disable this setting
- Assigned Games & Applications - Disable this one too
Boot Destiny 2 back up, and you should no longer be plagued by the dreaded CABBAGE error.
