Call of Duty: Vanguard Ranked Play update delayed

Call of Duty: Vanguard hasn't covered itself in glory recently with the Caldera Warzone map coming under heavy criticism for ruining the game mode. Now, following the recent Season 2 going live, a planned Ranked Play game mode has had to be delayed due to a stat-breaking issue that has been discovered.

When it rains, it pours for the giants of the FPS genre as Battlefield also continues to struggle. What else do we know about this Ranked Play delay and when can we expect a resolution?

Vanguard Ranked Play delayed

It was announced via Twitter by Treyarch on Thursday, 17 February that a highly anticipated Ranked Play game mode has had to be delayed.

There was plenty of frustration that the mode wasn't included at launch and players would be made to wait for its inclusion. Add this into the outrage that Caldera and the Pacific Warzone update has caused and Call of Duty finds itself in unfamiliar territory.

Mass outrage has led to the recent announcement of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. It's largely believed that these reveals were supposed to put the community at ease that new content was on the way (albeit at the end of this year).

It hasn't worked though as - rightly so - players are more concerned with the issues in the current game than being made promises for further down the line. It's going to take quite a lot of work to rebuild community trust over the coming months and put the Call of Duty franchise in a good place prior to the release of Modern Warfare 2.
