The next Apex Legends update is almost here and the next in-game event is going to be unlike anything we've ever played before. The Bloodhound-based "Old Ways, New Dawn" event is going to be the first Apex Chronicles event and focus on injecting narrative into Apex between larger Collection Events - like the Monsters Within Collection Event that's due soon. Here's the latest ahead of time...
UPDATE - White Ravens are the key to this event
If you want to participate in the "Old Ways, New Dawn" Bloodhound event - the first in a line of Apex Chronicles, according to Respawn Entertainment - you're going to need to keep an eye out for White Ravens while playing.
Not only this, but White Ravens are only going to appear on World's Edge in a non-ranked BR game and you'll only be able to interact and participate in the event if you're playing as Bloodhound.
You can check out a quick guide on where White Ravens should appear in-game below:
START TIME - When does the update come out?
The "Old Ways, New Dawn" Bloodhound lore-based event is expected to be added following an update due on September 29th at the following times:
- 10:00 PST
- 13:00 EST
- 18:00 BST
We don't know if this update will be substantial enough to warrant an additional download for Apex Legends, but we expect there to be a minor patch so keep an eye out.
In addition to this, the "Old Ways, New Dawn" Event is going to be a five-part experience. This means we could see the Bloodhound Event need more than one update over the next two weeks.
NEW ARENAS MAP - It's time for an "Encore"!
The start of the "Old Ways, New Dawn" Event is going to coincide with the release of a new Arenas map as Rampart's Arenas Takeover comes to an end. "Encore" is going to be a classic three-lane map that takes place in and around Seer's club on his home planet.
Shrugtal, a reputable Apex Legends data miner has shared the following look at the map's layout and explains that we should see a balanced Arenas experience from this map - there's going to be open spaces for long-range combat and interiors that should suit close-quarters combat when needed.
There are also rumours of a new flag-capture mode coming to Apex Legends' Arenas - Control - however, we don't think this is going to be coming for a little while yet.
PATCH NOTES - What are we going to see?
At the moment, we don't know what else we could see from the upcoming Bloodhound Event and the related title update. We're expecting a few map changes relating to the "Old Ways, New Dawn" event itself, but that's pretty much it.
We could see a few balancing changes introduced - however, we're only a few weeks away from the Monsters Within Collection Event and another major title update. Respawn Entertainment might be saving their next set of changes for then.
That being said, we'd like to see some minor changes made to Bloodhound's Ultimate Ability. After Rampart's Rework, we want to see some of the older Apex Legends characters get the same attention - a few minor changes to Bloodhound's Ultimate Ability could help to keep gameplay fresh and open up new ways to play. As a Recon Legend, in particular, we think Bloodhound's Ultimate Ability could be tweaked to better benefit their Squad as a whole. At the moment, it only affects Bloodhound - not that this is a bad thing.
