Apex Legends, like other popular Battle Royales, namely Fortnite with its ability to played on mobile platforms and Call of Duty: Warzone with Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, made the jump over to the mobile space.

When it did, the developers did so in a different way, essentially creating a whole new game specifically tailored for the platform. In the process, the developers undertook different challenges, but also some success, as they got to introduce two mobile-specific Legends, Fade, and Rhapsody.

But now, that success seems to have faded, as Apex Legends Mobile will be shutting down.

When does Apex Legends Mobile shut down?

After initially launching on Thursday, May 17, 2022, Apex Legends Mobile will be shutting down on Monday, May 1, 2023, just short of the one-year mark.

Here is the official statement from Respawn Entertainment, Apex Legends' developers, as to why the mobile game is shutting down.

"Following a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence," stated Respawn Entertainment. "It is for this reason, after months of working with our development partner, that we have made the mutual decision to sunset our mobile game."

This decision, as expected, is completely platform-specific, as the original version of the game—playable on PC and PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch consoles—will remain unaffected.

Until the official sunset date, Apex Legends Mobile is available for iOS and Android, while also being developed and optimized for other mobile devices such as Vivo, Oppo, Huawei, Motorola, Samsung, Lenovo, and Xiaomi.
