Valorant Patch 8.07 is live! While it brings a wave of bug fixes for the recently introduced Agent, Clove, the undisputed star of the show is Omen. This beloved Controller has received a quality-of-life upgrade, heightening his shadowy presence on the map.
Omen's popularity has surged recently thanks to masterful plays by Sentinels TenZ in professional matches. But he's always been a staple Agent, known for his aggressive playstyle and ability to unlock unexpected opportunities with his teleportation abilities. This particular buff opens the door for even more creative strategies and could have a major impact on the Controller meta.
Omen’s ultimate gets an upgrade in Patch 8.07
Omen’s signature ultimate ability, “From the Shadows,” lets him teleport anywhere on the map. His ultimate previously felt clunky because of limitations like needing to cancel the ability to pick up the Spike that hindered its flow. With Patch 8.07, Omen can now pick up the Spike and interact with other usable objects like doors while in his Shade form without cancelling the ability.
The dev team clarified on a Reddit post that the Spike will now automatically be picked up as soon as Omen’s shade appears near it. You can also press the “Use” key to pick it up if you're not directly on top of it, like normal.
On top of that, Omen can now interact with "Press-F-To-Use" items that don't require dropping his weapon, such as door switches. (Ziplines are still still off-limits in shade form.) Planting or defusing the Spike, reviving KAY/O, or picking up Orbs remain restricted as they involve lowering your weapon or using abilities.
The design team felt that some of the interactions (like needing to cancel in order to pick up the Spike) were unintuitive, and have taken steps to make the ability feel smoother. They also clarified that destroying Omen's shade before he can cancel will no longer prevent him from picking up the Spike
With this buff, Omen can now not only more reliably secure the Spike in dangerous locations and quickly whisk it to another site, but he can also further disrupt enemies by interacting with doors from across the map, without relenting his position.
While this upgrade might seem very niche, it's a welcome adjustment for all Omen mains, and it's the kind of change that could give skilled players another tool to form new strategies throughout a round.
