Resident Evil 8 hasn't even been released yet and fans are already looking towards the next title in the survival horror series.
Capcom's plans for the next entry might come as a surprise to some gamers.
Next Game To Be Switch Exclusive
The 25th anniversary of Resident Evil is this year and new rumours suggest that a brand new entry in the series will be announced shortly after the release of Resident Evil 8.
Resident Evil Outrage is apparently the new entry in the series and originally started development as Resident Evil Revelations 3.
The last entry in the series was released in 2015 as an episodic game, remember when they were trendy?
Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem claims the game will now be a timed exclusive for the Nintendo Switch.
While this may sound a bit left field, it isn't too farfetched to believe.
The original Resident Evil Revelations was released as a Nintendo 3DS exclusive before making its way over to consoles and PC.
It has been said that the game is a Revelations sequel in every way but by name, so fans of the Revelations series will be happy.
There are also rumours that the main character will be Rebecca Chambers, a character first seen in the original Resident Evil and who hasn't been seen since 2002s Resident Evil 0.
Previous entries saw players control Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in Revelations 1, and Claire Redfield and Barry Burton in Revelations 2, so going back to another classic character would make sense.
The only other classic characters who haven't been in a Revelations game are Rebecca and Leon, and Leon is one of the faces of the series and has appeared in countless games since his debut in Resident Evil 2.
Outrage apparently has a much larger budget than the first 2 games in the series, comparable to Code Veronica, and has been in development for 4 years.
The game was originally meant to be released as part of the 25th anniversary, but now it seems it will be announced this year and possibly released in early 2022.
