Following Nike, adidas, and PUMA all revealing their international jerseys for the 2022 World Cup, Umbro has now joined in on the action by launching a unique set of classically-themed football shirts known as "The Nations' Collection".
The shirts are said to bring football fandom together by offering a unique twist on some of the best retro football kits of all time so you can represent and celebrate your nation this winter.
Umbro has gone above and beyond to nail each design, with the company digging deep into the football archives to remix some all-time classics with bespoke crests and patterns inspired by each nation’s sporting and design heritage.
The result is a one-of-a-kind fusion of new meets old international football which, in our opinion, is perfect for the first ever winter World Cup. That being said, here's everything we know about the release of the collection so far...
The Nations' Collection by Umbro Price Speculation
Despite Umbro unveiling "The Nations' Collection", it left one important detail regarding the price of the shirts out from its announcement. However, there are a few hints available that might help us decipher how much the collection could cost.
For instance, Umbro's current crop of football shirts retail between £50 and £65 depending on the level of football the club in question is playing at. For instance, West Ham's 2022 home kit is priced at £65, while Championship side Hull City's home shirt costs just £50.
Therefore, if we were to make a prediction based on this information, then we feel "The Nations' Collection" football shirts could cost somewhere between £50 and £65 as well.
Take this information with a pinch of salt for now though as nothing has been confirmed by Umbro just yet. We'll make sure to keep this article updated with any further announcements as and when they arrive.
The price may be a mystery, but what about the release date? Thankfully, we've got a bit more than clues to work with here...
The Nations' Collection by Umbro Release Date
Umbro's official press release has confirmed that "The Nations' Collection" will go on sale on 7 October 2022.
Retro remixes of England, Brazil, Germany, USA, Mexico, France, Spain, and Poland kits from yesteryear will all be made available ahead of this year's World Cup.
So, there's not long left to wait if you're itching to get your hands on one of these shirts, but which kit will you be going after? Here are some of the designs to help you decide...
The Nations' Collection by Umbro Designs
As mentioned, new shirts have been revealed for an array of different nations; however, the collection is headlined by two retro England jerseys, the only nation of the eight to receive two kits.
The shirts are Umbro's take on England's iconic white and light blue '90s home and away strips, with both kits adopting the classic navy collars which are not too dissimilar to the one featured on Nike's official World Cup away jersey this year.
Next up is a similar collared shirt inspired by Brazil's 1994 kit which famously won the World Cup on penalties that year thanks to football legends Branco, Dunga, and Romário.
Umbro then moves away from the collars and into geometric patterns for this re-imagined Germany home kit. The base is dressed in white; however, a strip cuts right through the centre featuring an abstract black, grey, yellow, and red pattern.
A similar geometric pattern can be found in white and red on this retro USA jersey. The main difference here though is the pattern dresses the whole shirt rather than just a subtle strip below the chest.
The same can be said about this green Mexico shirt that features abstract but regular geometric shapes all over in dark green and red.
Umbro's take on France see's a return to the central patterned stripe, arriving in dark blue and red to match the lighter blue background and the bespoke Eiffel Tower crest.
On the football kit side, the collection is rounded off by this retro red Spain jersey featuring a yellow collar and diagonal lines all across the shirt.
A Poland design has also been revealed; however, it is more of a t-shirt rather than a retro kit which we're focusing specifically on here.
Where To Buy The Nations' Collection by Umbro
The entire collection will most likely arrive at Umbro first on 7 October, presumably under the website's football subsection.
The kits may also be made available at Kitbag once they're released; however, we don't know for certain if this will be the case just yet.
That being said, make sure you check out our list of the best places to buy football kits for more information.
