Looking for the latest PS5 console stock updates and all the news about what's new in the world of PlayStation? We've got you covered for today, April 27th.
PS5 Stock Update
If you're still wondering where you can buy a PS5 console today, we have a bit of bad news for you... It isn't getting any easier to get your hands on a new console as stock shortages continue to hit major UK retailers hard.
Most retailers are stating that the second week of May is the earliest they're expecting anything in the way of new stock, but this could easily stretch to the end of May as GAME has May 27th highlighted on their PS5 console listing.
StockInformer, a site built to track various stocks across major UK retailers, confirms our suspicions. There isn't any PS5 stock at the moment. Well, not if you want a brand new console anyway...
CEX and eBay are just two places where you might be able to get a second-hand PS5. These sites rarely follow the RRP guidelines though, so you'll need to make sure you're being careful about how much you're paying for consoles from these types of places.
May 2021 PS Plus LEAKS
According to Spanish-Language site AreaJugones, we could be getting two brilliant PS4 games with PS Plus' May 2021 offering of free titles.
Battlefield V and Stranded Deep are both reportedly on the way, but there's no word on the additional PS5-exclusive title just yet.
They don't share their source, but as the news goes... It's pretty saucy. Battlefield V is a huge title and Stranded Deep is one of the best Indie Survival games out there at the moment.
The PS Plus announcement for May 2021 is due to be released by PlayStation on April 28th at around 11:30 EST / 16:30 BST. We don't have any leaked graphics yet, so we're taking this one with a pinch of salt.
Sony PS5 Firmware Update
A brand-new Firmware Update has just been stealth-launched on PlayStation 5 consoles and we're expecting it to be rolled out over the next few hours.
The Firmware Update, which you can see below, is mainly due to improve system performance. It's pretty vague, as you might imagine, and that's quite literally all the PlayStation System Software site says.
Version 21.01-30.00.00.38 is out now and if you haven't been prompted to download it, you should have been soon.
DualSense Support on iOS
In other news, the latest iOS update from Apple has enabled controller support for the PS5's DualSense controller!
iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 have both launched today with a few new features, but this is the major one that will affect PS5 players. We're not sure the DualSense's unique features will be enabled, as vibration is often hit-and-miss when streaming games via your mobile device, but here's hoping!
Controller Support is available on the majority of Apple Acrade's library, a subscription service that features a number of exclusive games free of ads and microtransactions. It's a pretty good deal if you play mobile games.
Game Updates & More
That isn't all though, we have a couple more fairly big bits of news to tell you about.
Ratchet and Clank fans are in for a treat following the new Rift Apart trailer! A brand-new State of Play is due to take place on Thursday (April 29) at 14:00 PST / 17:00 EST / 22:00 BST and will feature a deeper-dive look at Insomniac's new title.
In addition to this, World of Warships: Legends is sailing onto PS5 consoles from today with updated visuals and improved performance. It's time to direct your own Naval Fleet to victory on the open waves!
And, we have a new Planet Coaster Console Edition update! There's a Ghostbusters content pack coming to the popular simulator and it promises to make everything a little bit more spooky! You'll be able to find out more below.
Genshin Impact is also out on PS5 consoles today! This updated version features improved performance, a richer world, and all the usual enhancements you'd expect from a next-gen game.
