Latest - eFootball Gameplay Trailer
Konami has finally released a gameplay trailer for the new game, eFootball.
Watch the trailer below:
There's plenty to get excited about here, whether it's the seamless restarts, new smart camera to give you better a better view for one-on-ones, or just the overall UI improvement.
Will eFootball be on Nintendo Switch?
This is still unknown, but signs suggest that it's a no-go for eFootball on Switch.
Despite that, there has been noises that PES (or eFootball as it is now) could reappear on Nintendo consoles.
Robbye Ron, PES brand manager for Latin America said to RPP back in 2018:
"The Unreal Engine will help us a lot to be a little more flexible on what platforms we appear on.
"I can't assure you yet, but I think we're getting closer to getting there (to Switch).
"Whenever we announce a new game, people let us know that they are still waiting for the Switch version.
"It is something we want, because people ask us and there are many consumers who have stopped playing PES just because we are not on that platform.
"We are focused on seeing how we can (do it), and I think that the change of engine will help us a lot to fulfil the dream to several Nintendo fans."
We are now close to three years on from that, but do bear in mind that PES 2021 was just a "Season Update" of PES 2020, and Unreal Engine has been confirmed for PES 2022.
If the series was ever to land on Nintendo Switch, it would be for PES 2022.
Unreal Engine
It sounds as if Unreal Engine holds the key to a Switch arrival, and we do know that Unreal Engine will be arriving fore eFoottball
We don't know if this will be Unreal Engine 4 or 5, but with UE5 not arriving until "late 2021" it is looking more and more likely that it will be released on the current engine.
Unreal Engine 5 will bring Holywood level animation to video games, but it's still good news for lower performance consoles like the Switch, with UE5 still playable.
Keep your eyes on Fortnite's port to Unreal Engine 5 later this year.
How that plays out on all consoles, especially Nintendo Switch, will be interesting to see.
eFootball Release Date
eFootball is yet to receive an official release date, but "early Autumn" has been confirmed.
If we had to pick a date Tuesday, 7 September 2021 would be the one to put in the diary.
