Moving away from the classic generations, Pokemon Legends Arceus features three favourites from previous games. Rowlet, Oshawott, and Cyndaquil are the choices this time, but which Pokemon Legends Arceus starter should you choose. We've broken down the strengths and weaknesses of each to help you make that decisions.
Which Starter Should You Choose?
Below, we'll look at each of the three starters and why you may want to choose them once the professor offers you the chance before your introductory trial.
Rowlet
Rowlet is probably the best choice when it comes to making the early game easier. Rowlet has higher base stats than the other two starters in Pokemon Legends Arceus, so will be powerful early on, before being overtaken.
It evolves into Dartrix at level 17 and Decidueye at level 34, switching from Grass/Flying to Grass/Fighting at each evolution.
Both Flying and Fighting are really strong secondary types and will help throughout the game.
Oshawott
Oshawott is also good early on due to Water type being strong against the common Pokemon you'll ecounter.
It evolves into Dewott at level 17 and Oshawott at level 36, but it probably the weakest of final evolutions.
That being said, having a strong water type Pokemon is always a bonus, so Oshawott could be a good choice.
Cyndaquil
Surprsingly, Cyndaquil is possibly the weakest of the Pokemon Legends Arceus starters early on, due to base stats and how useful Fire type is.
However, Quilava, and Typhlosion especially, are far more powerful, with the latter being the strongest of all final evolution options.
Cyndaquil evolves at levels 14 and 36, so you'll have it as a starter for the shortest period of time.
Finally, Cyndaquil is the coolest - but that's a personal opinion.
Best Starter in Pokemon Legends Arceus
Of course, a lot of it comes down to who your personal favourite is. Which do you find cuter? Which type do you prefer? For example, I just like the look of Cydaquil and its evolutions, so it'll be my choice.
However, if you're being smart, you'll want to analyse which is the smartest choice. While Cyndaquil won't be the best at the start of the game, it'll develop into the strongest choice.
Oshawott, however, may only be the best option early on, due to typing. Get further through the game and there will be better options.
