We can't wait for Nintendo Switch Sports to arrive next month, with six sports originally announced for the game.
We also know there will be a further update for Football (soccer) and golf later in the year, but could there be more sports on the horizon.
Data miners have found two new sports in the code, but what could this mean?
Release Date
Nintendo Switch Sports releases on Friday, 29 April, 2022.
Nintendo also held an online playtest from Friday, 18 February through Sunday, 20 February which was exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online members.
Trailers
The Nintendo Switch Sports official announcement trailer was released on Nintendo's YouTube channel on Wednesday, 9 February.
Watch the official trailer below:
The trailer showcases the fun that can be had whilst playing Nintendo Switch Sports but also gives us a taste of the controls.
The classic games like Tennis and Bowling will be played the exact same way as the previous title, but you'll need to get to grips with the controls for some of the new sports such as Chambara.
Once Soccer is introduced after the first free update, you'll be able to attach a JoyCon controller to a leg strap accessory so that you can play shoutout mode with intuitive kicking motions.
Confirmed sports
Nintendo Switch Sports will include six different sports at launch, with more to follow once the game is updated.
These six original sports are:
- Tennis
- Bowling
- Chambara
- Soccer
- Badminton
- Volleyball
The veteran players among you will recognise some sports like tennis and bowling from previous titles.
However, the new game features some fresh sports like volleyball, soccer and badminton for the first time.
There will also be two updates coming to the game later this year, adding more features to enjoy.
The first free update will add the support to play soccer with the new leg attachment.
The second update will add golf to the lineup, taking Nintendo Switch Sports to a total of seven different sports.
Crack the code
With sports already confirmed for the upcoming game, has Nintendo kept two back to launch as a surprise later in the year?
One Twitter user appears to have found Basketball and Dodgeball in the code, but is this confirmation that these sports will arrive?
It could well be conclusive evidence that the sports will be added, but on the flip side, it may be that they have scrapped plans to add them.
We would love to see Dodgeball added though, so fingers crossed!
