Nintendo has announced that the release date for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 has been pushed back to Spring 2023.

Breath of the Wild 2 Release Date Delayed

In a video update, Legend of Zelda's producer, Eiji Aonuma, said the following:

"We previously announced that we were aiming for a 2022 release date for the game. However, we have decided to extend our development time a bit and change the release to Spring 2023."

You can see the full video below.

He also said: "The adventure in this sequel will take place not just on the ground as in the previous game, but also in the skies above. However, the expanded world goes beyond that, and there will be an even wider variety of features you can enjoy."

News at E3 2022?

In the meatime, it's likely that we'll get an update on the game at a Nintendo Direct around E3 2022.

After all, we've seen very little from the game and are yet to be given the official title.

For a game that's due to release in less than a year, we know very little about it.

Original Trailer & Reveal

The original Breath of the Wild 2 reveal trailer, which was shown at the end of Nintendo's E3 2019 showcase showed us the mysterious tone of the game and Link taking to the skies.

If you want another hit of excitement for the game, you can rewatch the trailer below:

With the likes of Pokemon's new generation, Violet and Scarlett, releasing later in 2022, it makes sense for Breath of the Wild 2 to be pushed back a little to space out the excitement.

Once the final release date is revealed, we'll be sure to update you. We can't wait to play it either.
