Juventus are the kings of Italy, but this is the season they are best equipped to attack the Champions League. This is led by signing the best player on the planet, Cristiano Ronaldo for a massive £99 million, but it doesn’t stop there for the Italian champions. Leonardo Bonucci has returned to galvanise an already solid defence, Mattia Perin joins to challenge Wojciech Szczesny for the goalkeeping spot, and the development of Federico Bernardeschi, Douglas Costa and new signing Emre Can will put pressure on the established players in the squad.
With severe quality and a plethora of options, Juventus are undoubtedly one of the best teams on FIFA 19. RealSport looks at their new ratings to see if they can chase a first Champions League title in over 20 years.
Team rating
As expected, Juventus receive a five star rating in FIFA 19 with strength all over the pace. With a 5 star rating, Cristiano Ronaldo contributes to an 88 attack, 84 midfield and 85 defence.
Wojciech Szczesny (OVR 83)
Age: 28
Position: GK
Country: Poland
Wojciech Szczesny looks set to take over the mantle from Gianluigi Buffon as Juventus’ number one. The Pole has come a long way since his hot-and-cold days of Arsenal, becoming a reliable man between the sticks during two years on loan at Roma, conceding just 95 goals in his 81 games at the club.
Joao Cancelo (OVR 81)
Age: 24
Position: RB
Country: Portugal
A new signing, Joao Cancelo will look to solidify that right side of defence, whilst also offering an attacking outlet. The Portuguese man can lineup anywhere down the right flank, having shone for both Valencia and Inter Milan in the last three seasons. Now 24, he will look to show his quality, and target a regular spot for both Juventus and the Portugal national team.
Leonardo Bonucci (OVR 86)
Age: 31
Position: CB
Country: Italy
Back at Juventus, Leonardo Bonucci will look to forget the incontinency endured for a one-off season at AC Milan. The centre back comes back to Turin having spent 12 months at rivals AC Milan, in a move that sees striker Gonzalo Higuain head to the San Siro. Bonucci will enjoy linking up with defensive partner in crime Giorgio Chiellini, and also gives manger Max Allegri the option of a back three.
Giorgio Chiellini (OVR 89)
Age: 34
Position: CB
Country: Italy
Giorgio Chiellini is the cornerstone of the Juventus defence, but he will feel a weight off his shoulders with Leonardo Bonucci returning. With Gianluigi Buffon retiring from international duty and departing Juve, Chiellini now has the honour of skippering both club and country at the age of 34. With the clock ticking on his career, he will look to gain as much silverware as possible for his club.
Alex Sandro (OVR 86)
Age: 27
Position: LB
Country: Brazil
On the left side of defence, Alex Sandro is another man equally adept at denying opponents than troubling them in attack. The Brazilian offers great pace on that left flank and quality in the final third, notching nine goals and 18 assists since arriving at the Allianz Stadium three years ago.
Miralem Pjanic (OVR 86)
Age: 28
Position: CM, CDM
Country: Bosnia and Herzegovina
Miralem Pjanic is tasked with making this Juventus team tick, and the Bosnian does that with great aplomb. It was a controversial move when he swapped Roma for rivals Juventus in 2016, but with 28 assists and 16 goals so far in his Juve career, it has been an overwhelming success.
Blaise Matuidi (OVR 85)
Age: 31
Position: CDM, CM
Country: France
Now a World Cup winner, Blaise Matuidi illustrated his discipline and flexibility when he lined up in a hybrid position for France over the summer, having to cover both left and central midfield. The 31-year-old earned a starting spot after coming off the bench in the opening game of the tournament, providing defensive cover for Antoine Griezmann.
Sami Khedira (OVR 84)
Age: 31
Position: CM, CDM
Country: Germany
Sami Khedira currently starts for Juventus, but after a poor World Cup and new signing Emre Can waiting in the wings, you wonder if this is the season Khedira loses his starting spot. That said, the central midfielder scored the most goals in his career last season with nine, as he flourishes playing in a slightly more advanced position.
Federico Bernardeschi (OVR 82)
Age: 24
Position: RM, CF
Country: Italy
A top talent, Federico Bernardeschi can feel hard done by that his rating didn’t improve for FIFA 19. The right midfielder will battle with Juan Cuadrado (OVR 84) to start for Juve this season, with both players offering the defensive protection and width needed to balance out the all-out attack of Cristiano Ronaldo on the other flank.
Mario Mandzukic (OVR 84)
Age: 32
Position: ST, LW
Country: Croatia
How Juventus line up this season and accommodate all their top player is an interesting one. Mario Mandzukic looks to be the man leading the line, meaning Paulo Dybala (OVR 89) will have to wait for his opportunity. An experienced forward, Mandzukic works hard for the team, and knows where the goal is, scoring over 230 goals for club and country during his career.
Cristiano Ronaldo (OVR 94)
Age: 33
Position: ST, LW
Country: Portugal
Another subject for selection is whether new signing and reigning Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo will line up as a striker or left winger for Juventus. At the moment, the Portuguese superstar is on the left, but he could easily go into the middle, opening up a spot for the pace of Douglas Costa (OVR 86) on the wing.
