Arsenal: 4 Stoke players who could ruin Wenger’s day
As Paul Lambert’s men head to London on Sunday, here are four Stoke players who could upset the party for Arsenal.
Paul Lambert has fond memories of the Emirates.
The former Aston Villa manager watched his side win there on the opening day of the season five years ago, although he’s since failed to emulate the promise of his early coaching career.
Productive spells at Colchester and Norwich hinted at a burgeoning managerial talent, but his time in the Midlands was long and painful.
Lambert, in the eyes of most footballing commentators, was a strikingly poor choice to succeed Mark Hughes in January. His arrival at Stoke midway through the season was met with almost universal criticism after consecutive horror shows at Blackburn and Wolves in the Championship.
One win in nine games suggests the detractors might have been right. Stoke are marooned in 19th place, with only the tragicomedy of West Brom beneath them.
Despite their lowly placing, however, the Potters still have the tools to give Arsenal a very bad day. Here are four players Arsene Wenger will need to be wary of.
