Elden Ring is shaping up to be one of 2022's most impressive RPGs. We saw a little of what it has to offer in its closed network test last year but we don't all that will come until we play it for ourselves. If you're looking to play multiplayer, here's what we know so far.
Latest - Launches Tomorrow
Elden Ring finally comes out tomorrow. This is after years of waiting and tonnes of hype.
You can preload the game right now if you already have it preordered. Get it downloaded in time for the official launch.
Will Elden Ring have Multiplayer?
Yes! Elden Ring will contain the most ambitious and integrated online multiplayer experience in a From Software game to date. You will be able to play with up to four friends online in PvE (player vs environment) action.
PvP (player vs player) will still be a huge part of the game too with invasions returning should you enable the feature. There will also be a more organised competitive play mode where you can be summoned to another player's world who is looking for a fight, this is done via the Duelist's Furled Finger. When summoned, it's a simple fight to the death to see who is victorious.
Covenants will also be introduced in Elden Ring allowing players to align themselves with a certain body and earn rewards for fighting under the covenants banner. Depending on your alignment, interaction with other players in PvP and PvE modes will be altered.
It appears that this will be the most diverse and deep online multiplayer we've ever seen in a From Software game. We shouldn't expect any less from Elden Ring given the sheer hype that surrounds its impending release.
Elden Ring is set to release on Friday, 25 February 2022.
