Act three of Valorant's fourth episode introduced players to a brand new agent in Fade, with the Turkish bounty hunter quickly becoming a popular option amongst pros for her strength.
With a new update on its way, it's no surprise that the new hero would feature somehow, but how much? Here's what we know.
VALORANT 4.09 Patch Notes
The 4.09 patch for Valorant was announced by Riot Games on 10th May 2022 and will feature some updates to the agents of the game alongside competitive and esports changes and some bug fixes.
Agent Update - Fade
Fade remains mostly unchanged in terms of gameplay in 4.09, with the two changes made to her Nightfall and Seize abilities being more cosmetic in nature.
- Nightfall (X) - Decreased the amount of flickering textures on diagonal walls when casting Fade’s ultimate. Also added VFX for additional clarity and visual impact.
- Seize (Q) - VFX change to the orb for a more dynamic presentation in 1p and Agent select
Agent Update - Chamber
Chamber receives the most changes in the Valorant 4.09 update, receiving a large nerf to his Trademark ability due to it outperforming other sentinel abilities in reliability and power.
Chamber's Trademark ability is now limited to one charge with an increase in cost and its audio range. Chamber players will have to choose between playing more selfishly around the one trap or placing it to help teammates instead.
Trademark
- Cost increased from 150 to200
- Charges decreased from 2 to 1
- Audio range increased
Valorant Competitive Updates
The main update to come in Valorant 4.09 is the ability to switch party leaders. Party Lead Transfer allows the current leader to right-click the player name that they want to hand over the responsibility to, making them the leader by clicking the option in the drop-down menu.
No other updates are singled out in the patch notes, only stating "a number of small tweaks and updates made to the UI"
Esports Updates
The only update listed for esports in Valorant 4.09 is the addition of a scoreboard toggle while in Observer mode, allowing observers to watch the game more clearly if they so desire.
Bug Fixes
There are a handful of minor bug fixes set to arrive alongside the 4.09 patch, including a couple for the agent Jett specifically and a bug that could occur with the agents of Skye and Sova on occasion.
Agents
- Fixed a bug where Jett’s Tailwind would sometimes fail to cast when used immediately after curving a Cloudburst smoke
- Fixed a bug where Jett’s ultimate indicator would sometimes stay active after firing all kunai
Gameplay Systems
- Fixed an issue where an unintended ‘use’ input could happen after abilities such as Skye’s Trailblazer or Sova’s Owl Drone is activated while using the ‘use’ key
