Amazon's New World has had a rocky road to launch - a lot of people were assuming it was going to go the same way as Crucible and get shut down! Thankfully, it doesn't look like that's going to be the case. New World is getting an Open Beta - following the announcement of a revised release date at Gamescom 2021's Opening Night Live - and we have everything you need to know about that below.
When does the Open Beta start?
Amazon's New World is getting an Open Beta in just over a week's time - Access is due to start on September 9th and end on September 12th. Below are the exact times you'll be able to jump back into New World's World and when it'll kick you out again:
- Open Beta Start Time
- 07:00 September 9th - PST
- 10:00 September 9th - EST
- 15:00 September 9th - BST
- Open Beta Finish Time
- 23:59 September 12th - PST
- 02:59 September 13th - EST
- 07:59 September 13th - BST
The Open Beta is going to be available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese. It's going to feature a higher Server Capacity than the Closed Beta, but the following has been said:
" Open Beta is an important test for our server infrastructure and will feature a higher server capacity than the Closed Beta, but will not represent the full server capacity available at launch. Players may experience queue times during the Open Beta test."
It's also worth noting that there's going to be a progress wipe between the Open Beta and Launch - sadly, grinding for something won't matter.
When does New World itself come out?
New World's full release is just weeks after the Open Beta - on September 28th - and we can't wait to get stuck in. Following the announcement that an Open Beta was coming at Gamescom 2021's Opening Night Live, Amazon released this new trailer to get you excited for New World's full release:
It's a little mysterious and certainly exciting! Chart your course and your fate in this New World...
How can we play this Open Beta, anyway?
If you've still got the Closed Beta installed via Steam, you should go ahead and delete it. The Open Beta is going to be a completely new download - you'll need to head to the New World Steam page and request the Open Beta client through the Steam Playtest tool.
In order to do this, you'll need to go to the Special Settings tab on the Edit Store Page menu on the New World Steam Store page and change "Show the Steam Playtest signup link on the store page for this game" to Visible. You can find a guide on how to do this here.
