Nintendo's E3 2021 Direct has happened and we're getting reveals of lots of cool games.
Could we see a new Mario Kart title, or perhaps the long-awaited Bayonetta 3?
Originally in production at Bandai Namco Studios, the Metroid Prime 4 project changed hands in 2019 and is now in the hands of Retro Studios, the studio responsible for the Metroid Prime franchise originally.
Metroid Prime 4 Mentioned at Nintendo Direct E3 2021
While we didn't see anything from Metroid Prime 4, it was at least mentioned during Nintendo's E3 show.
Before introducing Metroid Dread, the mentioned that they're hard at work on Metroid Prime 4, but have nothing else to say about it.
Hopefully we'll hear something more soon.
Release Date
We still haven't heard anything unfortunately, but maybe news will come sometime soon.
Even if Retro Studios started again literally from scratch, they could theoretically project to have Metroid Prime 4 out in late 2022.
Crazier things have happened, and w can at least dream, can't we?
Launch With Switch Pro?
The original Metroid Prime was a revolutionary relaunch of the series, and came to new hardware, in that case, the Nintendo Dreamcast.
It would be quite serendipitous, then, for Nintendo to use Metroid Prime 4 as a showcase for the rumoured Nintendo Switch Pro hardware said to be in the works.
We will find out, one way or the other, in just a few short hours.
