UPDATE - Shortly after this story was published, the Gotham Knights Playtest was removed from the Steam Database. It can still be viewed on the SteamDB website but its latest update is one confirming its removal.
Gotham Knights has been in the headlines already this year after it was believed to be at risk of a delay. The CEO of Time Warner, Jason Killar, came out and confirmed that both Hogwarts Legacy and Gotham Knights will be released this year.
Now we're finally starting to see something that backs up this claim. A Gotham Knights playtest has been uploaded and recently updated on the Steam Database. The file was first uploaded in January of this year but a ton of updates have been added in the last 24 hours.
It's reason to be optimistic that the game could be entering its final testing phase which would have it on track to release this year. There may even be a public beta period made available to allow people to go hands-on prior to release.
Some games often offer betas as a pre-order bonus but there's no indication of this happening with Gotham Knights just yet. For now, it appears that this could be a file for internal use or even for previews to allow the press to experience a slice of the game.
We're also expecting to hear more about Hogwarts Legacy soon at the rumoured March State of Play event that PlayStation are believed to be planning. Gotham Knights could also appear at the same event and offer some more information on a release date.
This digital event is also set to bring us much more info on games like God of War: Ragnarok, Forspoken and other 2022 titles that we might not even know about yet! We're still not sure what studios like Bluepoint Games and Housemarque are working on following the release of Returnal and Demons' Souls.
Are you looking forward to Gotham Knights? We'll keep you up to date with the latest news and updates as we get closer to release.
