How to Upgrade To Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade
The process of upgrading your PS4 copy of Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a little bit convoluted. If you own the physical version, pop your disc in and head to the in-game main menu.
There should now be an option to upload save data, so select this. You can now upload all of your save files, one at a time, so that they can be downloaded in the PS5 version. The same applies to the digital version, just without the disc requirement.
Once you have done this, you can begin the upgrade process. Head to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake page in the PlayStation Store.
From here, you can select to upgrade your copy. The disc will still be needed to act as a license of ownership when playing on your PS5. Digital purchases can upgrade the same way but no disc is required.
Problems You Can Run Into
There are a few scenarios where you will not be able to upgrade your copy of Final Fantasy 7. If you own the physical copy, but a digital-only PS5, there will be no way to upgrade and you cant use your disc as verification, so you will need to purchase the full Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade title from the PlayStation Store.
More importantly, if you downloaded Final Fantasy 7 as part of its free availability on PS Plus, then you are not entitled to the upgrades either. You have to have purchased the game at some point at full price or on sale.
Do I Get The Free DLC?
The big selling point for many hardcore fans is the additional INTERmission DLC. An additional mission dedicated to the character Yuffie.
If you are upgrading your copy in any way from PS4 to PS5, you will not receive this DLC as part of the update. You must purchase it separately upon release for an additional $/£19.99.
