Did Clash of Clans Remove Barracks?
The answer is yes and no, as most of the barracks have been removed, but one of each type will have remained in your home village. You may have noticed some empty spots which used to be occupied by a building, as they were removed overnight automatically.
One regular barracks and one dark barracks have remained, which will now be used to train all of your troops. Spell factories and Siege Workshops have remained, as you were only able to build one of each even before the Clash of Clans update.
Another big change is that all of these buildings will be able to train troops or brew spells while being upgraded. Training will slow to 50%, but it does dispense with the need to extensively plan around the upgrade of army buildings.
Do Troops Still Cost Elixir?
The other key change made to Clash of Clans in the latest updates is that armies will no longer cost any elixir to train. The only resource you'll have to expend is housing space, which is a huge boost to productivity when farming.
The Clan Castle will now require elixir to upgrade, to balance out the resources within the game, which shouldn't be a huge ask given how many of us have elixir lying around. Upgrading troops and spells will still happen in the usual way.
The end result is that now training armies and attacking will be far easier and less hard on your resources. It could absolutely make the difference when you're saving up for the new Town Hall 15 in Clash of Clans.
