Season 13 Latest News
9 Feb 2020 - As we suspected, Bungie Help on Twitter has announced that Destiny 2 will undergo maintenance later today in preparation for the release of Season of the Chosen.
The official support account told fans:
"Tomorrow (February 9) at 8 AM PST (1600 UTC), Destiny 2 will undergo maintenance for Update 3.1.0. Players will be removed from activities at 8:45 AM (1645 UTC) and be unable to log in until 9 AM (1700 UTC)."
Reading further on Bungie's support pages revealed that Destiny 2 maintenance is expected to conclude at 1800 UTC.
"Console players who encounter issues updating to Update 3.1.0 should restart their console and try downloading the update," Bungie also added.

8 Feb 2020 - Eyes up Guardians! Destiny 2 Season 13, dubbed 'Season of the Chosen' gets underway in less than 24 hours.
Whilst that's very exciting, make sure you get all those Season 12 triump's completed before you run out of time.
In addition, Bungie has warned that certain planetary materials will no longer be able to used to purchase other materials. This includes:
❖ Alkane Dust ❖ Phaseglass Needles ❖ Seraphite ❖ Simulation Seeds
So you might want to make sure you use them up whilst they still hold some value.
Season 13 Release Date
Destiny 2 Season of the Chosen begins February 9.
The Season 13 start time will likely correlate with the games weekly reset time of 5pm GMT.
Though it has not been announced yet, we would expect that the game may undergo maintenance on the day and be taken offline for the new update to be released.
Season 13 Story
The official description reads:
"With the Pyramids and Xivu Arath destabilizing the system, Empress Caiatl, leader of the Cabal and daughter of Calus, seeks an alliance. But when she demands more than Zavala can offer, negotiations collapse, and Guardians must become the tip of the spear that strikes at her growing war council."
Season 13 Roadmap
Everything coming in Season of the Chosen can be viewed on the below roadmap.
Some of the standout events include new Trials of Osiris armor/weapons on Feb 12, the return of Guardian Games on April 20, and plenty more.
New Activity - Battlegrounds
Here is Bungie's official description for this new three player PVE activity:
"The fallout from the failed treaty has resulted in Cabal forces taking up arms on multiple destinations – prepared to defend the glory of the Empire. In this three-player matchmade activity, Guardians will engage in ritual combat against Caiatl’s chosen warriors."
New + Returning Vanguard Strikes
DEVIL'S LAIR - Find and destroy the single, exalted Servitor that sustains the Fallen House of Devils in the Cosmodrome.
FALLEN S.A.B.E.R. - Rush to the aid of the AI Warmind Rasputin as he broadcasts a plea for help across the system.
PROVING GROUNDS - The champions of humanity face the champions of the Cabal to determine the fate of the Last City.
New Exotic Weapon
So far there's only one new exotic we know about, Ticuu’s Divination Exotic bow, which according to Bungie: “charges multiple Solar arrows that can track several targets at once.”
