It's time to dust off your whites as Cricket 24 is set to arrive this summer following an announcement from Cricket Australia and Big Ant Studios. The game is set to arrive just in time for The Ashes, set to take place in the UK across June and July.

Big Ant Studios' 'Cricket' series has something of a cult following, and with few other options for gamers to whet their cricketing appetites, expect Cricket 24 to go down a storm among the faithful fans.

Aside from the release date, there is some exciting news already revealed by the game developers which could take the game to a new level this year, so make sure you are up to date with the latest Cricket 24 news.

Cricket 24

Confirmation of Cricket24's arrival this summer is here, with game modes like Career Mode and Pro Team set to feature. Pro Team offers the chance for fans to collect player cards and assemble their dream team, similar to EA's Ultimate Team modes in their FIFA and Madden franchises.

There will also be a brand-new fielding system following a complete overhaul that is set to "provide the most realistic and responsive fielding controls ever seen in a cricket video game."

“The passion and excitement shown by our fans at the prospect of another game being released before the upcoming Ashes has been overwhelming,” Big Ant CEO, Ross Symons, said.

“We’ve been working incredibly hard with cricket boards all over the world to bring what is the deepest, most realistic video game representation of the sport ever. I believe Cricket 24 will bring something special for cricket fans all over the world, it is the first truly global cricket video game.”

Release Date

The official release date for Cricket 24 is yet to be released, but Cricket Australia confirmed that the game would arrive in time for The Ashes, which begins on Friday, 16 June.

PlayStation AU (Australia) also confirmed that the game will arrive on consoles in June, but with no specific release date.

Cricket 24 will be available on Nintendo Switch in November 2024.

Platforms

As mentioned above, PlayStation AU confirmed the game would be available on both PS4 and PS5 in June. The game will not be exclusive to PlayStation though, as the full list of platforms is available on the Big Ant website.

Players using Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S will also have access to the game. Nintendo Switch fans have not been forgotten about either, and the game can be pre-ordered on all the aforementioned platforms.

With the game set to be available across generations of each platform, Cricket 24 will be fully cross-platform.

Licenses

The biggest news ahead of Cricket 24 comes in the licensing department, with Big Ant Studios confirming that the game will have more licenses than ever before!

Cricket 24 will feature representation from India for the very first time! It remains to be seen as to the extent of the representation, but a fully authentic Indian cricket team and Indian Premier League would be a huge addition to the game.
